I understand the discussion about crowd figures being tickets or people in the crowd but how does that differing in imperial and metric!?!

Rugby League Challenge Cup 6th Round Draw
glossop saint replied to Old Frightful's topic in The General Rugby League Forum
Thanks for the answer. Other than away fans (and historical rivalry) I am not too sure of the difference between Warrington and Catalan so just wondered why the ambivalence towards Catalan. I assume you'd be relying on a half price offer to tempt you into going against Salford or Hudds? I wonder if there was a greater appeal last year with a bit more of a star studded line up. Or less given less chance of an upset! -

Out of interest if Fax were drawn at home to Wire for example would you go then? Or other Catalan equivalent (top half of the table but not very top class, low chance of upset, no local rivalry)? -
The argument used above was that we don't know how much more the money would have fallen if we didn't have Catalans. A similar point can be made here. Catalan being in SL is about so much more than money without wanting to drift away from money which this is focusing on. Some of which is quantifiable, some of which isn't. And some of which it will be impossible to know. Oh well it gives us all an opportunity to go around in circles never changing our minds.

A genuine question - is there a code of conduct or similar guidelines or rules that club owners and officials have to follow? If not then there should be, to cover this exact situation. It's not as if it hasn't happened regularly over even recent years. As a sport I think we face such an uphill battle from the establishment and media that our image should be at the top of our priorities (something I'd have liked IMG to look into more but let's not open that box). I'm not sure how anyone can defend Beaumont here or many of his previous tweets and actions (I'm not saying that you are).

For me then the goalposts are being moved during this thread, rather cleverly by some posters I think. I've not seen the game or incidents so can't comment on them however for me the issue is the tweet (X?) not the refereeing decisions. Whether they are right or wrong that shouldn't give a club owner permission to make the comments that he has made. What overhaul is he suggesting for the game? After last year I think that he and the club were slowly starting to win round some doubters however this sort of behaviour is embarrassing. Someone earlier posted about that losing tends to reveal your true colours and we might be in for a taste of it this season from senior figures within the Leigh club. It was unacceptable when other owners (including McManus) have made comments in the past and it is now. What's next? Calling out Robert Hicks for a charity MMA fight?

Some clubs making 2 trips is another reason, if any more are needed, to get rid of loop fixtures.

YOUR FAVOURITE KARAOKE SONG
glossop saint replied to ivans82's topic in Any Other Business / Any Other Sports
I did 'This is Hardcore' by Pulp in a pub a few years ago. Got some very interesting reactions. On the same night a friend did both Wuthering Heights and Rammstein and absolutely smashed both of them. We did rockaoke for our wedding and did a first song instead of a first dance. We went for Deadringer for Love. We were actually watching videos of it last night. We absolutely murdered it but it went down very well. -

I love listening to the programme and really should make the effort to get to a live show. I got my dad tickets for xmas last year and he absolutely loved it. I know some people think that it has been dumbed down a bit but I'm still surprised at what they can get away with and find it hilarious. -
I originally thought that the Sao red was harsh but fair. I thought it was, like other do, an attempt to get up or at least show to the ref that he was being unfairly held and highlight the foul play, and then a wild knee catching Parcell. After seeing it this morning I've changed my mind. It was deliberate and looking to knee Parcell in the head. Straight red. No issues. I still have a degree of sympathy but it was completely the correct decision.
