LordCharles Posted December 19, 2014 Share Posted December 19, 2014 BARLA PRESS RELEASE BARLA YORKSHIRE CUP FINAL POSTPONED The BARLA Yorkshire Cup Final scheduled to be played at the John Charles South Leeds Stadium, the home of Hunslet Hawks RLFC on Sunday 28th December between Drighlington and Fryston Warriors has been postponed, until a date in January 2015, when Drighlington could be playing pending an appeal Fryston Warriors, Queens or Upton. This is as a result of the BARLA Disciplinary Committee deciding that Fryston Warriors forfeit the game for playing a suspended player in their semi final against Sharslton Rovers, who in the same match also played a suspended player and have also had the game forfeited. Queens will now play Upton in a provisional elimination semi final after those clubs had been defeated in the quarter finals of the competition by Sharlston Rovers and Fryston Warriors respectively. The game will replace the BARLA Yorkshire Cup Final and will be played at Hunslet Hawks South Leeds Stadium on Sunday 28th December following the BARLA Under 18 Yorkshire Cup Final between Castleford Lock Lane and West Hull. BARLA will not be making any further comment at this stage which may prejudice any subsequent appeal and a new date for the final will be announced in the near future. How do you work that out please explain as I'm sure you have to pay for the use of the facilities at the South Leeds Stadium and the match officials. Also it seems Fryston have admitted their mistake and not appealed and I assume Sharlston have done the same. So why are people trying to blame the Pennine League when in my opinion it has acted correctly in this case and quickly so as to utilise the booking of the stadium by playing the Upton v Queens game instead of the final. Nobody is perfect and I think they are trying their best doing what is a thankless task a bit like been a referee. Its the easiest thing in the world to criticise and if you think three pounds is expensive to watch two games of rugby you can pay that to watch a NCL game with no facilities near the pitch. Quite simple GHx2, As you've stated later in your post, the John Charles Stadium was already booked and costs would have been agreed. With only around 250 attendance for the under 18's game, the gross takings would probably not have covered the stadium cost. At this moment in time I am unaware of the overall attendance figure as, to date the BARLA website does not contain any information of this bonus game, but I would be confident this figure would have been swelled by people travelling from the North Leeds and Pontefract areas, who had no interest and probably did not watch the under 18's final. One thing that did stand out in your post GHx2, was that you leap to defend the Pennine ARL when this is clearly a BARLA matter. Very well said George and very correct in everything you have said. Wish people that criticise would put themselves in for some of these unpaid jobs at the Pennine League/Barla so then everything would be able to run smoothly (cant see it myself) but sorry to say that people just like to moan and pick at people that give up there own time and money to try and do what is best for Amateur Rugby. The stats about 4 years ago stated Rugby League had lost over the 3 years previous to that time about 80.000 players, Rugby union was in the region on 200.000 players and football was in to the millions. The Yorkshire League had 7 divisions, along with the Pennines 6 divisions and Hull and districts league, the Leeds & District League with 3 divisions and the West Riding league with a number of divisions. Now we have Hull with 2 Divisions and Pennine with 7. Sorry but all sport is dying as kids are not interested if it has not got a chip in it. Quite sad really; when i was a kid I spent most of my spare time outdoors playing some sort of ball sport...rain or shine Back to topic however... anyone know when this final is to played yet? Time bomb is waiting around the corner for the younger generation , lots of kids have parents that are the 1st playstation generation and are quite happy for thjere kids to play endless hours on the xbox etc , they see it as a perfect normal way to spend your spare time .
