Batley reaction

Our attack is getting a lot better but we still have some work to do on our defence. A good effort today but unfortunately no reward and right now points are more important than performances. At least none of our relegation rivals won this week so we haven't lost any ground.

I’m not prejudiced, I hate everybody equally

To many silly penalty's putting us under pressure, forcing the pass when percentage rugby is required and faster play the ball were the order of the day I think. Batley had a massive pack and just had that edge, they played the ball faster and crisper than we did, at 24-24 we blow our chance of going in front by forcing the pass on the 3rd tackle then they score, Ryan's best game took it up well, Perry some massive hit ups and Jack back to his best, Matty ran it hard and fast as well, a bit more composure  and we could have pinched it , I think we can go to Blackers with some confidence.

Great team performance today! Did really well to get back to 24-24 , a few weeks ago we would have capitulated and they would have ran away with it!! They really deserved something from the game today! Hopefully will put to bed all the concerns about not playing for the coach!! Jack Murphy had a great game today! Roll on Blackers!!

As a Batley fan I wondered why did Jarrod Sammut did not start?

Has be been injured?

I didn't go today but it sounded a very exciting match. Who did you think stood out for Batley?

Best wishes for the season.

vievers said he was sticking with the halfs who have been playing well. In hindsight sammut should have started.

as I said before the game Sammut should have started. He made a massive difference to our attack and organisation. If fit he should play and he HAS to start next week.

Thought we lost out in the first half when Callum went off, he was running the show for me.certainly deserved at least a point, performance good but nothing to show for it, Jack Murphy deserved MoM but would not have argued if at any of seven others got it, imo Doran had his best game for a long time.

For me the Batley number 21 was the stand out forward for them, he played well over his weight and made the Town defence work hard every time he got the ball, Jack Murphy was definitely M O M, both Jamie Doran and Calum Philips both played well also, Allister Leek done his part for Batley when he was introduced to the game, but for me Town didn't use the ball enough and tried to drive it down the middle.

Correct. Be interesting to know what the score was with Callum on and off the field.

Cottercash at Town match again, trying to get players for next week I was told !!!!

their fans are saying they are going to struggle for 17 next week. However we go into next week on the back of 3 good performances and with plenty to pick from.

Ye, confidence should be high, stop the silly penalty's and we should be able to get the points, but its all on the day if we perform we will see it through.

Ye, Felt a bit gutted for the lads putting in such a fight today with nothing to show for it. Some good performances but wouldn't argue with Jack getting m.o.m thought Sammut made a difference when he was on Callum. was good , Perryis strong at centre and the " Rhino" had a good game, so a good allround performance which could have produced at least a draw with a bit more luck but no need to be disheartened after that showing today. Well done lads.

James Brown. A big, strong lad and good with the ball, too.

He's been outstanding for Batley this season. Apart from Leak our top try scoring forward to date.

Gutted not to get something out of that game after matching them for most the game, I thought when we pulled back to 24 each we could go on to win it. Once again we had a ref who only seemed to referee one side but credit to Batley they played the ball quicker than us and wer more clinical when they had good field position. All in all a very entertaining game in the DP sunshine I just hope we carry our improved performances on to Blackers next week, it's a must win for us against an haven team who will be lacking in confidence. Sammut has to start next week I would love to see him turn it on in front of the cameras.

Yes, that James Brown was good all-round, very strong and players struggled to keep hold of him, and when Leak came on he gave Batley that little extra in attack, Leak was Egremont stand out player before he went to uni,

Attendance 681 better than I thought it would be with the Magic weekend and footie on, Haven fans recon that Allen has gone, don't now how true mind, and Dion at Town match limping badly.

Next week is massive for both clubs, hope its a good game.

All joking aside, these #### bags should be stoned to death at a local derby game, that would definitely put the attendance up,

It took Leak a little while to find his feet in the Championship imo, but he's been a thorn in the side of quite a few teams this season.

It seems Workington have hit a little form, and so should be confident going into next week's game at Blackpool.

They were just more clinical , they're used to punishing teams for mistakes. With hindsight you wouldn't force those passes but if they'd stuck they were tries.

From earlier in the year when there was a lot wrong we're close now and Haven should be worried about next week.
