York city knights

Recommended Posts

I know ill get a lot of stick for this but here goes, with york city knights going to the wall tonight it makes me thankful that we have a club to support and they too been let down by the council and various grounds. CH aint everyone's cup of tea but he keeps our heads above water only just but he does it and im grateful for that its difficult in this financial plight to make it work on shoestring budget. See some of u Sunday #UpTheYeds

Disagree, I think Hamilton is the reason people decide to cut the grass, take the dog for a walk, eat a solero. Everything is Hamiltons fault, god forbid half the keyboard warriors turned up and supported the team instead of finding fault in everything we have.

We have a ground and a team,I know its not in Oldham (yawn) but we don't do so bad in light of today's events. Be thankful for a great set of players and staff who bust their balls off to give us a team to be proud of,and as Charlie says a chairman who is vilified for at least giving us a chance to compete in this division. What could be worse eh? Get down to Bower Fold on Sunday and support these lads, remember for all the whining, tomorrow we may have nothing.......

Up the Yeds!

I like this bit from today's news from the club:

Said Turner: “Oldham have been talking to me off and on since the early part of the year, but they got in touch again a couple of weeks ago and this time I was ready to make the move.

“Chris and Scott ‘sold’ the club to me. I liked what they said about the club and its future. I know how much it means to them to stay in this division and hopefully I’ll be able to play my part in achieving it.”

That gives me a lot of confidence for the remainder of this season and hopefully the next one in this division.

Agree Dave, and of course Keiron Gill's words were fantastic,a lad on loan from Cas who didn't want to leave us and refers to our club as "we" after being here a month. We must be doing something right. Hope we stay up and the lad takes up the option for next season. Shows the spirit and togetherness in this side. No matter what happens,I'm proud of this set of players and the effort they have put in, they want to play for Oldham and the fans. Win or lose the appreciation of the support,(especially away from home) from the players has been fabulous, makes you feel like we are all in it together. Lets finish the job now and build for the future.

Gutted for the York club and it's fans.Let's hope someone can start a fresh club. It's bad news to lose a club like that,we're not the biggest sport in the world after all. All we can do as roughyeds fans is get behind our club and support the boys.

and whos going to be the next club to go to the wall, the small clubs running on shoestring budget can not keep going and going , its like some previous comments, if your not in the SUPER league , you can sod off , the rugby league are not interested in lower league structure, and there is the problem.

Its strange to see over in York that the council and the football club are so involved with the plight of the RL club.To Oldhamers this is unheard of.Yet in York they have this luxury. However where CH needed help of the practical kind the consensus over at York is that Guildford is beyond help.I read some articles re Mr Guildford and it did not look at all good.

Re our own plight be grateful for CH by all means but also remember that many aspects were not working or had fallen apart.Simply because alone he could not deal with them. This time last year it was shirts from a burger van, poor social media ,White bank ,Website a mess.It is all on the up and now even match highlights are on the go.CH is accepting help and its far more like it needs to be.Dave Naylor deserves a lot of credit but also some of the moaners do.Sometimes just turning up and getting behind the lads can only achieve so much.

I honestly believe CH has been dumped on so many times, he struggles to share and extend his work with others. But personally i can see his faults but i'm so grateful for all he has done and continues to do. I'm quite happy to be shot at also Charlie  ;) Onwards and upwards for the Yeds !!!

Blaming the Council? Maybe twenty years ago. But now? I don't think so.

If you were in charge of the council and you had to please 150,000 voters and 100,000 council tax payers - in an austerity era where the government have stolen a third of all the money Councils used to get - then you focus your budget on what everybody, or most people at least, need and want.

Not what 500 rugby fans want (only 0.5% of Council tax payers and just 0.25% of the town"s population as a whole. It's not the Council's job to run or fund the club.

I wonder how much rent they have ever received for Whitebank?

Shame for York, I hope a new club can be formed and allowed in the league.

If I were leader of Oldham council I would not have been facilitating all these poxy pet projects.White elephants one and all.Niche shopping quarter, art gallery, town hall cinema, stupid sport centre and what's the latest wheeze? Cultural and heritage centre?.The foot fall in the town for that little lot? The square root of ****er all.

With the sports centre I'd have pushed for a community stadium, got the latics involved and built houses on BP.With this lot its all arts and not sports.

So many other things which if they had been done better this town would be something.

Still its gone now and rather than be embarrassed re playing out of town I actually see it a good thing because I no longer have to go into Oldham.Let's hope it continues.

Blimey we are in agreement TAOAF.Add to that the number of derelict mills stood, falling to bits, doing naff all.Like I say the will is there for the arty farty stuff but not the sports. What percentage of Oldham wanted the pet projects of McMahon?I ain't met anybody.

Who in their right mind would go to the Old Town Hall cinema when Ashton has parking and all that other stuff next to the cinema.

The capital projects other than the cinema (a disgrace of a vanity project) are mainly funded or run by outside orgs.

The latics stand has been proven to be a waste.....they'll be lucky if the club doesn't go bang....they'll never see all their money back for that. Another vanity project that got approved after Latics had just beaten Everton and Liverpool in the cup.

As for St Peters Precinct and the Old Sports Centre....come on they were hopelessly outdated. 40 years is time to renew those kind of facilities.

But none of this is about the running of the club. If you don't like the way the town is run then leave.

But the fact that ORLFC 1997 is hundreds of thousands in debt and has lost or alienated three quarters of its original support has nothing to do with the council.

I don't ,I have.

On my way to the match yesterday I chanced upon These two signs down on the East Lancs.

Every time I see these signs I am sick to the stomach.

Then I look at the helpful and informative visit Oldham website.

If like the council the links don't work ,click sports then rugby .Have a sick bag to hand.

CH is what he is but This town is a disgrace.York council does appear to be interested enough in its sport to be wanting certain things to happen.

God knows what Oldham is interested in .Growing Trees out of Mill Chimneys perhaps.
