NCL Div 3 and BBC Online

Recommended Posts

I've never understood why the rugby league fixtures/results pages on the BBC sport website fail to include details of games in Division Three of the NCL. I complained about it - why carry only partial information about the amateur game's flagship competition? - and received this (less than illuminating) response from David Glenday, of BBC Complaints:

Unfortunately we are not currently able to display the third division on the BBC site. We are continually reviewing our data offering and will certainly look to see if it is a completion we can add in future; realistically though it is not a change we are able to make in the short term.

As you might be aware, full fixtures and results are available on the National League website, along with news articles and club information: http://www.nationalconferenceleague.co.uk/

If the NCL division 3 league table is correct on the website this morning Drighlington and Dewsbury Moor Maroons have played a 0-0 draw, but there is no sign of this result anywhere else on the site?

It was on the site yesterday morning but dropped off - I'm wondering if somebody thought (incorrectly) that it was an error

Simple reason .............They dont give a fig , couldnt care less .....All u need do it to look at the coverage of the Chalenge Cup on Thursday MORNING  ......It said Oldham play Warrington but no clue as to where the fixture was to be played , It then gave 3 other fixtures in full , but then went on to ignore the other 8 teams involved in the draw .......pathetic really. . .

Recently made my annual complaint to the BBC about the lack of NCL Division Three fixtures/results on the broadcaster's online rugby league pages. Pointed out, as I have previously, the NCL is amateur rugby league's flagship competition and questioned why the BBC carries information covering only three of the four divisions. Slightly different response this season, though - worryingly - its contents suggest the complaints department somehow failed to grasp the essence of my complaint.

Shouldn't the NCL's (or even the RFL's) media rep be taking this up with the BBC?

Joanne Conway, of the BBC's complaints team, said:

"Thank you for contacting the BBC about the Kingstone Press Cider National Conference League.

We understand you are unhappy there is no coverage on BBC Sport website of this amateur rugby league competition.

We are currently featuring Kingstone Press Championship and Kingstone Press League fixtures and results and while we provide coverage of a wide range of sports, we have to impose a reasonable limit on what we do cover on the site:

http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/rugby-league/fixtures

However, we appreciate you’d like to see the fixtures and results from the Kingstone Press Cider National Conference League and have included this in our feedback report. All complaints are sent to senior management and programme makers and BBC Sport Website every morning and we included your points in this overnight report. These reports are among the most widely read sources of feedback in the BBC and ensures that your complaint has been seen by the right people quickly. This helps inform their decisions about current and future coverage."
