Where are Toulouse then ?

Recommended Posts

Apart from being in the Midi-Pyrénées they are conspicuous by their absence!

Have they gone out of business, switched to some other sport, been banned from England because of Brexit, or is is some wider and deeper conspiracy?

We wait with baited breath for the next installment of RL Rides Again!

If Toulouse don't get promoted to Super League at the end of 2017, then in 2018 they probably will be competing for promotion to SL with Toronto Wolfpack. Toronto will surely go all out to recruit some quality NRL players. Toulouse will then have to buy a couple of NRL players to compete. But that rivalry in the Championship will be interesting

Have to agree with you about recruitment, but would stop short of "quality" like lots of other clubs - mine included - they will become two new additions to the Ageing Aussie Convalescent and Retirement Scheme.

At this point in time, Toulouse did not recruit new players bar a French one and said that they will rely on their reserve team if injuries called for it.

I don't think they will get promoted this year, the Championship will be a tough competition. I'm not sure they need "NRL players". The team is very young and the French youngsters will only get better. They would also benefit from recruiting French Elite 1 stars or loaning Catalans U23 players.

I agree with Toulouse's reliance on young French players. It helps develop the game in France. However I think that Toulouse will still need a couple of powerful, experienced NRL forwards -- players just on the outside of the main playing group at an NRL club -- if they are to be promoted to Super League. That would be a slightly more ambitious recruitment strategy than what Leigh did to get on top of some Super League clubs in the middle 8s. But with the new salary cap rules Toulouse would be able to fit into the team such quality NRL forwards if they have the financial backing.
