Nw records further growth

Recommended Posts

For the second year running the NW has registered over a thousand players at U7 .

Numbers are again up with just short of 5000 kids registered across the 7-12s age group .

Further growth is anticipated through 2017 .

Fantastic effort from a great bunch of volunteers

What the formula for the success?

Where are the numbers increasing from? Is it existing clubs running junior sections or are new clubs being set up?

We have made a concious decision to grow the game up , we set out to get families to buy into being part of a club providing a safe fun environment for young children to learn and enjoy playing our sport .

Getting the environment right and providing a structured competition based on the needs of the participants and practitioners is a simple basic recipe .

We still have work to do changing the mindset of some individuals but we are winning hearts and minds and the proof is in the pudding our young players and their families are loving being part of "Sunday is Funday "

We feel that making the experience the best it can be is paying dividends in attracting new people to the game and more in important keeping them there .

We have plans to further enhance our delivery to our clubs which hopefully will help us to grow the game even more .

So now the whole of the NW is settled into summer rugby everyone can concentrate their efforts in the same direction! Great efforts by all.

This shows several things..

A) what can be achieved when everyone is pulling in the same direction.(yorkshire take note).

B) Summer rugby isnt the failure that people would lead you to believe

C) There is still plenty of growth to be had in heartland areas!

D) Any funding doesn't need to be spent in current strong areas that are working fine in the current structure.

Finally i had a lot of fun playing in NWC junior leagues and that was down to a lot of hard work by coaches and administrators.

It is great to see this has continued for future generations!

Thanks

We ended up with just over 5,000 players registered which is approximately 35% increase on the last winter/ traditional season .

As many know I was against the move to summer but as a group we accepted the decision rolled our sleeves up and made it work .

We are looking at 10 % growth next season and I am confident our clubs can deliver .

We have now been given the go ahead to deliver PRL the NW way and for the next three years we will evaluate what we do in an open and honest way working will all strategic partners to continue to rebuild a solid base to hopefully stop the decline further up the food chain , our two sister leagues are also as a collective re visiting their delivery all is looking good in the NW .

2017 is a pivotal season for us as we challenge ourselves to deliver RL in the right environment .

This is great. Now it's up to the older age groups to take advantage of the increased numbers being fed through

Hopefully in 8-10 seasons we'll see the benefit in the pro ranks and open age game
