  1. Good to get a win under our belts last week, think we have a chance against Widnes this week. What changes (if any) would you make from the team v Batley? Anyone know how long Graham is out for? Hopefully we get the 3 Huddersfield lads again, as think that makes a big difference to the strength we are able to have on the bench (where I think we have struggled this season already without them). Hopefully, with them being top, and our result last week, we should get a decent crowd.
  2. Thoughts on last night. Great to get a win, I think last time we got relegated, we lost several close games, where on another day we could have won. I'd put both league matches in the same bracket, matches that could have gone either way, with a bit of luck going the other way. Concerned that in both matches if we had been 12-0 down after 20 minutes I don't think there would have been any complaints. Now a bit more positive, we really grew in to the match and built confidence. Attack looked better, forwards competed well, we were composed more of the time and defended really well throughout the match. Was surprised about Batley's performance, as expected more. Think Brown's best days are long behind him..... Standouts for me would BoC, Perry, Turner, Beckett (did he play all 80 minutes?), Billington and Garside, but don't think anyone let themselves down. Great to see all 3 of the Huddersfield players thrilled to have won, and looking part of the group (rather than outsiders that we have had on DR before). The turning point for me was Turner's 40-20, that got us out of pressure and we scored soon after Still plenty to improve on, and a few bits I don't understand:- Hookem had his best match I thought, but he isn't a kicker, we look so much more threatening when Turner is kicking near the line, not sure why we are using Hookem so much to kick 12 - 0 up with about 20 minutes left, match still in the balance and the next score is key to winning the match. We have 10 tackles in their 20, why we aren't hitting a drop-goal over so they have to score 3 times I don't know We need to get Rush running more with the ball, he looks a threat whenever he gets the ball, but he didn't get much yesterday After yesterday, think we can give Widnes a good game, and hopefully they will bring a few with their start to the season. If we can get a couple of wins out of the next 5 matches, we'll have had a great start I think. Well done everyone
  3. Was a bit worried about yesterday after the pre-season outings, but we competed well for much of the match, and with a bit more composure / luck we could have won. Few thoughts from me:- Backs all played well, liked Restall last year, so hope he can get back in, but not sure where O'Connor then fits (maybe right centre) Hookem had his best game for us, but I still think he's a hooker, rather than a half-back We look so mire threatening when Turner kicks, especially in the attacking third of the pitch, not sure why we stopped that until yesterday, when we could easily have had 3 tries from kicks Rush looked good, unlucky with his chip over the top, which bounced on and on, when all other kicks had stopped in the mud, that was a certain try if it had of stopped We missed Dixon yesterday, think his go forward would have made a real difference, especially from the bench, at the moment, we don't get any oommmpphh from bench changes Sadly, we had a 15 minute spell where we lost rhythm, and gave away too many penalties, that let them escape their own line, when we went down to 12 players, it was all over with their two quick tries Couldn't fault the effort from the 3 giants, certainly gave their all My changes for Batley would be (assuming everyone fit):- Restall to full back, O'Connor in the centre Rush starts at scrum half, Hookem to impact hooker (like Sam Day used to be) Dixon on the bench in place of one of the props If Graham is fit, him back to second row Sykes can always do a job, and is utility enough to cover lots of places, worth a place on the bench maybe????? What did everyone else think? Ultimately, we need to try and get a couple of 'surprise' wins at home against the middle ranked teams (Batley, Sheffield, York & Halifax), but the big matches are the Cumbria, Swinton and Doncaster ones this year. Win against them and we will be okay.
  4. 19,000 sold for tonight according to the media.
  5. good coverage this morning on BBC breakfast. Interview with Sam Burgess, and pushing the Hull Derby.
  6. Any updates on these for expected numbers? Hull derby figures seem to have gone quiet since 17,500 announced. What is the capacity at the Jungle nowadays? if 8,000 is the lowest figure that would be a good start.
  7. Couldn't make it yesterday, but watched online. My takeaways were:- Much better attitude than v Bradford (and I assume Keighley) Stand out players for me were O'Connor, Greensmith, Graham and Beckett Still too many light pack players, we must be the smallest in the league Understand the comments about Turner at Half-back, but think this is now where he will play, so need to see more taking the line on (although difficult with the underfoot conditions A few things I don't understand:- Last year how many tries did we score with Turner putting attacking kicks to Graham and O'Connor near the opponents line? I haven't seen us try this yet this year? Turner was great at attacking kicks, I just don't understand why we used Hookem to kick the ball regularly on the last tackle, he just isn't a kicker Penalty kicks to touch, why do we only try and make 10 - 15m each time, even with the wind? Get it high and get it flying on the wind, the older players will remember Richard Agar making 40 - 50m regularly Drop goal, at 8 - 2 up we had two opportunities to slot a one pointer over, which may have made the difference, but instead, put up a non-descript kick, I think if we'd have squeaked 2 scores ahead we may have made it through
  8. Its also a 3 year deal, so plenty of opportunity to get value over the coming years.
  9. Any season ticket updates? Been a couple of weeks, and thought they may have done a 5,000 announcement by now.
  10. I remember Fafita, Keegan Hirst, Max Jowitt (and possibly once more) playing for Dewsbury on DR, and I think me, my Dad and Grandma would have put more effort in. Think we got beat by nearly 50 against Rochdale. Where as Elliott Minichella came on DR from Hull KR and gave his all.
  11. Thought exactly the same when I saw it
  12. Is that the one (or possibly in the reply), where one of our backs put Phil Veivers on his backside while scoring from distance?
  13. I'd have him as one of our top players last year, he well go fine in the Championship next year, with some faster players around him
  14. Hmmm, Bought 3 seated tickets for tomorrow in the East Stand, got row and seat number confirmation, just gone to print off the tickets emailed to me a couple of days ago, and they are standing ones. Anyone else had this?
  15. Right, after reading on here about how RL fans need to get off their a*** and support the International Game, I have booked 5 tickets for Leeds. Anyone else going to get a group together and buy some???
