Luke Walsh to Catalans

Same position, half either side.

Terrible signing, can see Catalan in the bottom 4 next year unless Greg Bird drags them up by himself.

He's being sold to the fans as a huge signing but I think any regular SL watcher knows he's there to "make the numbers". We needed a half and a kicker. Market was empty, it was either him or Hastings.

One year deal for Walsh means one more year training before Albert gets a starting spot.

What a complete a**hole of a player !

Saints actually offered him a new contract months ago but he categorically told the club he wanted to go back to Aus. with him family. Now he ends up signing for another SL club.

To be honest I'm not that bothered that Saints didn't keep him. His poor injury record, his reluctance to tackle people and him going missing in most big games have seen him be something of a huge disappointment over the last 3 years, but I am peed off with the way he's handled himself over leaving the club.

It does seem like a frantic signing, after the flop performance and subsequent release of Todd Carney. But what were the alternative options?

Greg Bird will do a lot for the team. But I would have liked to have seen him helped by a more impressive forward signing than Luke Burgess.

Nonsense, plenty of players now in SL who came through the ranks at Catalan.

Why should they risk being relegated or losing fans through mid table finishes by playing French players who are not good enough.

When other teams only select players born within a 10 mile radius, then I'll agree with you

Catalans were brought into SL to boost French RL and make the national team competitive. Under Potter and Robinson this was on the right track, but under Frayssinous the club has become a dumping ground for 2nd rate Aussies.

Who are these second rate Aussies? Certainly not Greg Bird.

Says the Gold Coast Titans fans. How many of your guys were formed at Gold Coast? How would a national "Gold Coast" team fare?

There are more French players in SL than ever before, they're just not playing at Catalans and from a certain point of view this is a good thing. If we do get relegated, there would still be 10 French players in SL instead of none.
