Keighley Cougars are delighted to announce Brendon Rawlins has been granted a testimonial by the RFL as he reaches a decade of service here at Cougar Park.

Joining the club as one of Barry Eaton’s first signings upon his appointment as the Cougars Player-Coach from Australian side, Balmain Tigers, Rawlo has to date made 221 appearances in Red, White and Green, scoring 53 tries.

Hailing from Townsville in Queensland, ‘Rawlo’ arrived at Cougar Park in January 2007 and quickly cemented a place in the team and as a firm fans favourite on the terraces of Lawkholme Lane.

Brendon missed half the 2009 season after having to return home to Australia due to problems with his work permit after RFL but that decision was reversed on appeal.

He went back to Australia at the end of February of that year after he was initially refused supported player status by the RFL but that decision was reversed on appeal despite the UK Border Agency insisted he returned Down Under to complete his application process.

Since returning to the club following this visa application problem, Rawlo has been involved in the 2009 & 2011 Championship One promotion winning squads building up a much loved friendship off the field with James ‘Buster’ Feather.

Continuing his roles on and off the field, then coach Paul March appointed Rawlo as Junior Club Captain as part of a three man leadership team with Senior Club Captain James Feather and Team Captain Paul Handforth.

And his role was made more important off the field following the tragic passing of Danny Jones in an away fixture against the London Skolars but he would make his 200th appearance for the club in the play-off final defeat to the Swinton Lions.

He did add more silverware to his personal collection though in the 2016 season, playing his part in the iPro Sport Cup triumph against the York City Knights in Blackpool despite a dissapointing League One campaign.
