18th man

Recommended Posts

Another pulsating afternoon at the Fold! A real arm wrestle, with our defence outstanding again - we have only conceded 5 more points than Leigh! All this as well without, arguably, our best 2 forwards in Joy and Langtree. Whilst our attack was not at its most fluent,a brilliant piece of play by man- of- the- match Gaz Owen was a turning point, just as Fev looked to be gaining the upper hand.

Everyone played their part today, but special mention must be made of young Kruise Leeming, whose class shone out like a beacon. If only we could have him on loan for the rest of the season.

Yet again the fans were fantastic, never waivering in their belief in the team.Although small in number, their vociferous support for the team must lift the players.Even in defeat, the players are clapped and cheered off the field.Contrast that with the Fev fans today. The final hooter signalled a mass exodus, apart from a dozen or so fans behind the posts.

There seems to be a real connection between the fans and the players.and I am convinced that this will be the difference between survival and Division 1 oblivion.

Let's hope we stay clear of injuries next week, because we have a great chance of turning over Leigh, who don't seem to be firing on all cylinders at present. It would be great to beat a team from outside Yorkshire!

Absolutely right.

The bond that exists between the players and us fans is amazing. The Hull KR fans the other week were stunned by what they saw before them. One of them came up to me, shook my hand and said "Look what you can achieve with belief and determination. I wish we could half of what you guys possess."

This is a very special time to be an Oldham RLFC fan. I wish more people would buy into what's happening. The more that do, it can only get even better.

I thought we were going to lose to day with such a different team than we are used to playing due to injury. Are props got a lot of ball and did a lot of work, the wingers although the ball didn't get out to them in open play did a reasonable job on those scoop runs after fev kicked and were perfect under the high ball. That new hooker a class above most other players on the pitch and although the ref was atrocious (as always) we grinded out a good win in tough conditions against a team higher in the league than us

yesterday was the first time that I have been this season and in fact the first for quite some time and I have to say that I thoroughly enjoyed it.

However I had hoped to see Roper and Grimshaw who I have read so much about but neither played. I have not read anywhere why they didn't play so can anyone tell me. I assume they were injured as I can't see the sense of resting both of them for such an important game.

I won't be at the Warrington game but I am certainly intending to go more often in future. I went with my son in law who like me used to go every week home and away but hasn't been for ages it was interesting to hear him say that it was such a shame that a little village type place like Stalybridge could have such a tidy little ground while the much bigger Oldham cannot have one and wouldn't it be great to have a similar facility inside the Oldham boundary

Grimshaw played centre and gaz Owen played half back instead of roper

Just shows how long its been since I have been to a match and despite asking a mate who stood with us and who goes regularly he never enlightened me to that fact

Never having seen Grimhaw myself I would never have known so thanks for the info
