Sharks are the most experienced grand final side in history when it comes to total games played — a remarkable statistic that puts into perspective what the Storm are up against on Sunday.

Not just that, they’ve got plenty of grand final and premiership winning experience as well.

So, while Melbourne are grand final pros, any narrative painting Cronulla as complete novices is off the mark.

Matt Cecchin and Ben Cummins have been appointed to referee this year’s NRL grand final between Melbourne Storm and Cronulla Sharks.
Cecchin has been named despite being called out by the NRL for a wrong conversion placement in last week’s preliminary final in Melbourne.
“They refereed as a combination in the finals series last year, including a preliminary final, and are a proven combination in big games,” referees boss Tony Archer said.
“The best officials will referee the grand final.”

The sun shines in the Shire to start the weekend, while in Melbourne, it is living up to its Rugby League club's name.

Weather looks to be all clear for tomorrow night's game and we have the best two clubs from this season in the final. Great weekend ahead.

Swannies to get an all Sydney dominance of the two main codes off to a good start today as well!

GF Weekend!

I'll say one thing before I retreat to pray for the next 24 hours. ;)

Go Sharks!

Up, up Cronulla; The boys in the black, white and blue; Up, up Cronulla; Name of the Sharks fits you; Sharks, Sharks forever; Go out and play without fear; Now's the time to see good football*; For the Sharks are here!

It may be a grand final but this game is going to have to go some to match the drama of today's Hull KR/Salford game.

In today's grand final the team from Victoria the Western Bulldogs who Channel 4 viewers would remember as Footscray defeated the NSW team the Sydney Swans.

Hopefully like Cronulla, this was the Bulldogs first grand final win in 50 years their last in 1962.

Up up Cronulla.

Channel 9 coverage here.

Big crowd.

Lots of pale blue and black

Crowd like an extra man for Cronulla if they don't win today...
