  1. So the plans to restructure the Championship and L1 have been announced. The plans are to reduce the Championship to 13 in 2025 and 12 in 2026. They are planning to bring a new team into L1 in 2026 to give 2 leagues of 12. This season the team finishing top of L1 will be promoted with the bottom 2 in Championship relegated. The L1 play off winners will play the team finishing 12th in the Championship for the last Championship place. From 2025 promotion and relegation will be decided by a Super 8 system like they used a few years ago for SL. The bottom 4 in the Championship and the top 4 in L1 will play each other in a mini league to decide who plays where the following season. But for this season you only get guaranteed promotion by being Champions of L1. Winning the L1 play offs only earns you another play off against 3rd bottom in the Championship.
  2. You had a lucky escape given that he is now officially bankrupt.
  3. Marwan Koukash was meant to be a billionaire…..
  4. Yes, but 4 of those 5 clubs probably paid their players their February wages. Can you guess which one didn't ?
  5. Rumours on Haven’s forum that their players haven’t been paid their February wages and the directors sent the groundsman to tell them they weren’t getting paid
  6. Cracking win, not just the result but how the lads battled back into it. Could easily have let their heads drop when it was 16-0 so early on. Showed a lot of character to come back from that. You can see how some of the younger lads are growing into their roles, not least Jack Stephenson and Jake Bradley who were both immense today and are a very good 2nd row partnership.
  7. The accounts for Rugby League World Cup 2021 Ltd were filed at Companies House a couple of months ago. They were the operating company for the world cup. They paid hosting fees etc to the IRL. So all of the actual income and expenditure relating to the physical staging of the tournament is within the RLWC 2021 Ltd accounts.
  8. I didn't say there was one ? Just providing information.
  9. Indeed. The tournament had income of £30.2m which was made up of :- Government Funding & Grants £13.4m Match Income £10.0m Sponsorship £3.5m Broadcasting £1.7m Other Income £1.6m
  10. I assume the IRL income was from the hosting fee for the World Cup and not related to the actual tournament itself ? Because the actual tournament over here made a loss of ~£415,000 even after receiving £13.4m of government funding.
  11. No I’m not saying that. I’m saying they, through different lived experiences, bring things into the mix that Peet doesn’t have. That is not a criticism of Peet in any way whatsoever. Any good management team, whether in business or sport, needs a good mix of different skills and experience that compliment each other. Peet will have skills the other 2 don’t have, they will have some that he doesn’t. That’s just a fact of life. All that matters in the end is that the blend works, and it clearly does at Wigan. Matty Peet seems to be an exceptional Head Coach, and even better human being, but I’m sure he’d be the first to acknowledge the contribution of his support staff.
  12. Fair enough, I’m just repeating what Peet said in his post-match interview.
  13. I don’t think he’s saying that, just that the likes of the 2 ex players have the experience of playing in those intense games and know what is required to win them. For example, the French no try, Peet said that it was Leuluai who came up with that move after watching videos of Penrith and had spent time with Smith and French during the week practicing it.
