Pennine League 2016/17

Looks to be a more solid league structure this year though Fryston will be far too strong for the Championship. I'm not convinced by scrapping the regionalised lower divisions, though guess it was a sacrifice to get closer league games. Not sure why New Earswick All Blacks aren't in the league

Surprised Norland haven't dipped their toes back into the traditional season, Donny Toll Bar have

I think there is a bit of an issue

The Hull committee are not the easiest and some clubs went to the summer league slagging off the H&D, the committee remember this.

Norland left as they won everything saying they wanted a new challenge and now it ain't worked out is it them or the committee I don't really know. Note no West Hull, Skirlaugh, Dockers and I know past friction

It is what it is and we have to live with it

If that's the problem they all need to grow up, it shouldn't be about individuals especially if they're lads wanting to play, I for one can have a blazing argument and afterwards be best of mates, bad blood should never be carried, we're not here long enough.

plus upton have refused to play queens again

In 1984 when Moorends went to play in the Hull league they played a typical West Yorkshire style of Rugby League for that period (In Hull they played a more attractive flowing game)  they had to have touch judges home and away paid for by their club and league officials attended the games, this controlled the aggression on the park and made sure the club controlled the crowds (which is probably the biggest problem with the three clubs you've mentioned)

Will be interesting to see if Sharlston fully commit to the season if, like many expect, their aim is to become an NCL side. Does anyone know if you're allowed to re-apply to NCL straight away the next season if you were previously rejected?

They've had a great season in YML with arguably more competitive sides than what Pennine Lg will offer, so i'd be really surprised if they're fully committing to Pennine Lg this season.

Wasn't to long ago that teams who are now playing in the summer where only dipping their toes into the sunshine season, maybe climbing into the summer pool they're still keeping the door ajar with the traditional season so they could make a return one day.

Yeah you can re-apply straight away. Stanley Rangers didn't get accepted until the 5th straight year they put an application in

Didn't they fail because of the lack of a youth set up and has that been addressed?

  • 4 months later...

Crigglestone look to have only had one game left anyway.

But this season has seen the following teams drop out:

Championship:

Stainland Stags and Boothtown Terriers

Division 1:

CK Vikings, Whinmoor and Dalton

Division 2:

Higginshaw and Brotherton

Division 3:

Halton Moor, Worth Village, Meltham All Blacks and East Leeds

11 out of 53 teams in the fixtured divisions. Somewhat ironically division 4 has kept all its teams
