Queensway

With Swinton Lions visiting on 15th January and South Wales Ironmen on 29th, plus an open training session on 10th December, it's going to be quite a novelty playing pre-season friendlies on our home ground, something I don't think we've been able to do since our very first home game against Rochdale Hornets in 2012.

For those who haven't been to Queensway since we last played there in September, facilities are improving near the stadium, with an American style Diner and a chip shop now open in the old Labour Club building next to the stadium entrance. Both are open Saturdays and Sundays, and both looking forward to the rugby season.

I think the football club may have done us a favour by pricing us out of the Racecourse. We might be in more humble surroundings now, but I think we have made the right move.

Definitely agree. We have basically been ousted because Wrexham FC never really liked us playing at the Racecourse and there is easier income from hosting one big concert at the end of May (UB40 already booked for 2017).

We can also generate some income at the Queensway from food and drinks. I was at the open training session today and our chairman commented "every pint you drink or chip you eat now goes into saving our club" . I'm sure I can help out there!

Nice article in The Leader tonight about the renovation of the Labour Club, and Cru get a mention. Also says there are plans for a pub. Of course food and drink sold inside the stadium will benefit the club directly, but there is also plenty of mutual benefit in having these new facilities next door.

I have to say I've been very impressed with the work put in to get the stadium ready for the new season, it really does feel like home.

While the stands are set quite far from the pitch, they offer a surprisingly good view and 900 seats is plenty for this level. There are also grass banks closer to the running track which also offer a good view. This is going to be a great venue in the summer.

Took a couple of pics before the gates opened for the South Wales Ironmen friendly.

Have to say was not looking foward to going to the Queensway but after the 2 friendly games it grows on you, good beer tent and food , great view and like Fearnowt said will be great in summer on other side to the stands, on the grass. onwards and upwards.

Thanks to the recent opening of HMP Berwyn, Britain's largest prison, there is now a bus service on Sundays from Wrexham General railway station which passes close to the Queensway.

The hourly service alternates between the 41B, which passes along Queensway itself, and the 42B which does not. Queensway is signposted from the Farmfoods stop, which is about 15 minutes walk from the ground.
