RL on "Only Connect"

An RL question in the sequence round:

2012: Wolves

2013 :Warriors

2014: Rhinos

?????

One team went for 2015: Tigers but it passed to the other team who got it right.

Bearing in mind they had no context for the question that was pretty good.

"I am the avenging angel; I come with wings unfurled, I come with claws extended from halfway round the world. I am the God Almighty, I am the howling wind. I care not for your family; I care not for your kin. I come in search of terror, though terror is my own; I come in search of vengeance for crimes and crimes unknown. I care not for your children, I care not for your wives, I care not for your country, I care not for your lives." - (c) Jim Boyes - "The Avenging Angel"

So, I can come out of the closet and admit to being an Only Connect devotee - phew what a relief!  I didn't like to admit to a bit of intellectual quizzery on a Monday night, including the more general knowledge emphasis of University Challenge.  OK, it slipped out...I watch that too (occasional RL questions and all!)

This is because I am still emotionally scarred and bruised from admitting on this forum to being a reader of The Times and of Carol Midgley's column.

No need to be embarrassed, it's the best hour of television outside the season.  There was a question earlier in this series or in the last when Keegan Hirst was the first name in the what links round.

Yes, I remember that.  I think the link was professional sportsmen who had 'come out'.  In University Challenge, I remember a question I think along the lines of "What sport was established following a meeting at the George Hotel, Huddersfield in 1895?", and I think it was correctly answered.

I agree - a great hour's viewing!

They're alright but they're not Tipping Point are they?

An innocent writes, "What is Tipping Point?"

Utter bo**ocks, that's what.

With Halloween coming up I decided to go to my local fancy dress shop to see if I could get a Dracula costume. After a few minutes the assistant handed me a Hull KR shirt asking "Is this suitable?", I replied "I think you may have misheard me, I said I wanted to look like a count."

I'm a fan too, although I only discovered the show about a year ago. That Monday evening hour is a good bit of brain exercise, and the more answers you get right, the better it is for your self-esteem.

Don't ever play poker with VCM, she's one of the worlds best.  She's also brilliant when she does HIGNFY.
