  1. plenty to do in and around townsville. get the sealink ferry over to magnetic island…a short ferry ride with bus connection on the island. Plenty of accommodation on the island. Some good museums as well as a terrific coastal walk. Cowboys leagues club is in the centre of the city ( short walk from stadium)…especially recommend sunday…cheap steak night. Bali it is not so if you are looking for beach parties i suggest you go to Bondi. Ive never had a problem booking a ride to the airport, but I dont leave it until the last minute. As for redcliffe…around the corner from bee gees monument is the award winning Yabby Road fish and chip shop themed on the beatles. Best F and C in the city. Also the memorial to Cooks landing by the pier. Captain Cook didnt bother with Victoria, stopped off at Botany Bay NSW and soon realised it wasnt worth stopping then headed straight for Queensland!!! Take the coastal path north from the pier for a 30 minute easy walk to find out how the city got its name. That will lead you to Scarborough beach. A good leagues club at Dolphin oval which is a twenty minute walk from Redcliffe pier. For most tickets I buy from ticketek i receive them by text and click on link to get them in my phone. However any time I have had a problem i just go to ticketek window with my details and they print a hard copy ticket off for me. For Go card in Queensland buy using any credit card and your refund at end of time in queensland is credited to the same credit card. My son from Canada did this recently. Another tip for public transport in SE QLD. Once you have done eight trips in a week (week starts on Monday) rest of your trips for that week are half price. For most sporting events public transport is free on game day by showing your ticket. NSW has similar offers. And off peak travel is dirt cheap. Using the opal card you can travel all the way from central sydney to the blue mountains (2 hour train ride) for about $3. So save your long distance touring for the weekend. The Airtrain from Bris airport (BNE) to the city and beyond is expensive $25 each way. However if you book a return train fare on the Airtrain web site you get a return trip for the price of a single. A taxi from BNE to city is about $60 by comparison so unless you are travelling alone a taxi is cheaper. Dont expect to be treated nicely by the airlines….there is an astounding lack of regulation on the airline industry and much soft corruption with the politicians so passengers are treated like doggy doo. Given what you might be used to from EU days you will be shocked. All airlines treat passengers poorly. Jetstar is an absolute must to avoid. Its Ryanair x 4. I always fly qantas or virgin australia simply because they are more likely to fly you the same day if your flight is cancelled. But dont expect them to offer you the best alternative…they look first to put you on their difficult to fill flights that might be flying via Kungiboo or itchyscratchy. And remember…its a long bus ride between international and domestic terminals in Sydney. Unless you are transferring qantas to qantas, where you can use the qantas free shuttle, you have to get a terminal to terminal bus which is not free. Happy to try to respond to any questions.
  2. You think you will be able to sleep…. you will probably be having nightmares Safe travels.
  3. The other lot (B & I Lions) are also touring in 2025 and tickets for all games ( tests and tour games) went on sale two weeks ago. They will be sold out before League has announced a schedule. Weren’t IMG supposed to be sorting this out?
  4. 1. 1978 second test at Odsal….Peter Foxs dads army gave it to the aussies. The aussies went home and transformed their game and that was that. 2 1985 Challenge cup final 3 2023 NRL final
  5. 1969-70 season, three consecutive games that got progressively worse both performance and weather wise 19 Feb RLCC round 1. Rochdale Hornets 2 York 0 21 Feb RLCC round 2 Doncaster 5 Rochdale Hornets 5 25 Feb RLCC round 2 replay Rochdale Hornets 3 Doncaster 4 19 points in three games. I think Hornets were saving themselves for their next game 28 Feb Rochdale Hornets 6 Wigan 35. Wigan must have been poor if we managed to score as many as 6 points! Four games in 10 days…and the players were part time…eat yer heart out Super League.
  6. You dont know torrential rain unless you saw games at Watersheddings. What you experienced was spitting. Ernest Shackleton prepped for the Antarctic at Watersheddings.
  7. Not sure but the great Joe Corsi who was in the hornets team eventually left hornets for Oldham once he struggled to make hornets first team
  8. Is there a optional upgrade to rag pudding (oldhams own)
  9. That was the second half at seagulls…..it started raining and Burleigh ran away with the game.
  10. Positive news from Dale…..local philanthropist emerged as potential owner who has track record of investing in community assets. My guess is it would be good news for both clubs.
  11. 12 noon to 2.30pm on a rainy Saturday…with the absence of alternatives it was that or going shopping with partner. I didnt have to toss a coin.
  12. Havent had to switch games to Tugun for a while. Major pitch renovations at Piggabeen over the summer….pitch was looking great at the weekend but major problem is the creek that runs by. Doesnt take much rain for it to flood the low lying ground.
  13. Impressive list….next time you are in brisbane you must tick off Albert Bishop Park (The ‘Bish’ home of norths) and the newly renovated Langlands Park (easts tigers) both easy to get to. You could also expand to the Brisbane League with Emerson Park (Valleys) and Frank Lind Oval (wests panthers)…iconic names from the past. But by far the ‘not to be missed’ ground is Ron Stark oval at Dunwich on North Stradebrook island - home to the Straddie Sharks. Catch the ferry from Cleveland. Wynnum Manly take one Q cup game there every year. Right by the ocean with a large hill, leagues club, large trees providing shade and stunning views. You wont want the game to end. The island is also home to koalas in the wild and one of the best places for whale watching (coincides with the rugby season). The next expansion in NRL should be Dunwich!
  14. Reported on channel 9 that Reynolds expected to be back for Broncos on Friday.
  15. Latest forecast is for very little rain on Friday so that should help. Also not much else to do on Good Friday so maybe it will be closer to capacity. And latest team news is Reynolds is expected to play.
