If Carney is out then it's a Hull win for me. Dave Taylor and his fellow forwards have been getting much of the plaudits, but it was Carney that I was more concerned about. Ellis getting a ban is a blow to Hull, but there's still enough in that pack to keep the Catalans big men in check imo, and with Inu gone too I think Hull just edge the backs.

It'll be tight. Hull 26 - 22 Catalans

Depends on who's going to centre.

It's difficult to have a better centre than Gigot, at least offensively speaking. Watch out for Casty, too. He's coming back freakishly good.

Here are the 19 :

1 Tony Gigot
2 Jodie Broughton
4 Vincent Duport
5 Pat Richards
7 Richie Myler
8 Louis Anderson
10 Rémi Casty
11 Glenn Stewart
12 Justin Horo
13 Jason Baitieri
14 Dave Taylor
15 Julian Bousquet
16 Eloi Pelissier
17 Greg Mounis
18 Thomas Bosc
21 Morgan Escaré
22 Antoni Maria
28 Alrix Da Costa
29 Willie Mason

With Carney injured, Bosc will probably slot into the halves, Gigot to the centre and Escaré at fullback.

This should be a very good game. Pity they won't televise it.

Yes the game of the round I think and that TV deal if that's the problem needs a bit of adjustment, if it's Sky choosing games too early that needs a bit of thinking about too!

If it was down to us to pick the games then the same teams would be on every week, like Wigan, Saints, Warrington, Leeds...oh, hang on.

Catalans by 6. I think you'll find that the reason that Sky choose games early is because they've taken note of fans complaining about last minute fixture changes.

Indeed.

With Halloween coming up I decided to go to my local fancy dress shop to see if I could get a Dracula costume. After a few minutes the assistant handed me a Hull KR shirt asking "Is this suitable?", I replied "I think you may have misheard me, I said I wanted to look like a count."

I feel sorry for the casual viewer who has been subjected to week after week of Wigan's death by boredom tactics when they could be watching throw it around with aplomb sides like these 2. That said, they may recall a dire play off game before 200 people at the KC not so long ago, and the wounds may not have healed yet...

Are you talking about the game when it ###### it down all night and Shaul caught a kick, and went 70 metres to score? I don't remember it been that bad a game, more just dictated by the weather.

Minichiello out with a calf injury it seems so with him and Ellis unavailable it's gonna be a bigger ask than might have been.

Catalans looked lost last week without a decent hooker. Salford were the better team for much of the game and it was Taylor's break and offload that tipped the balance in momentum.

Pellissier back will give them more go forward but with Carney out I think they will be lacking in a General to 'do' Hull.

.

A blow no doubt, but ateotd we will still be able to field a back row with Pritchard, Manu, Bowden (I think he'll play 13), Washbrook and Hadley in it.

I think with our squad depth there are only three players whose absence will really hurt us. Shaul, Sneyd and Houghton. You want the best players possible available, but we have strong replacements for everyone but these 3 Imo.

Lol... who would have guessed it?

It's Horo at centre!

He's not been under the scope for a while!

The Hull twitter account is suggesting the "biggest non-derby crowd for a number of years" which would be impressive if true with limited away fans.

Two strong sides and not a lot to call between them but I think the weather may give Hull a slight edge. I am not sure when Catalans arrived but I cant help think if you have been training in warm dry weather you aren't going to be as ready as the team who have been practicing in these conditions all week.

Hull 21 Catalans 14

Based on the previous trip to Hull KR Catalans will have been tucked up in the Village Hotel Hull last night and acclimatised today. Straight after the match they will fly back to France and be on the beach tomorrow morning. All very efficient, trust that will translate to the pitch!

All attending this game should be aware there's been a fatal accident involving a woman and child on Spring bank which is currently closed. Traffic in the area will be even worse than the normal gridlock if this closure continues into the evening.
