Pryce Crookes and Hemingway

Is Pryce injured? His defence is sound, temperament is good, hands are excellent and always draws 2-3 men to tackle him, never concedes penalties. Crookes, indisciplined, concedes penalties every game, binned twice this season, poor hands, yes he runs strongly and tackles hard but think he is a liability overall. Giving away penalties is killing us this season and he is one of the worst culprits.

And how does Hemingway get picked? Compare how we look when Conroy is on to how we are when Hemingway is on. Why does Hemingway never run from acting half? He just makes it harder for our forwards as the defence know he'll never run. Add on his lightweight defence and its no wonder the rest of the pack struggle.

As far as I know Pryce has been unable to get properly fit so far this season and the demise of the second team hasn't helped in that regard. Personally I would still have given him a run out earlier in the season - picking the same squad/team week after week and losing all of the games smacks of a very small squad or an unwillingness to change. If it is the latter then GM won't be the first to fall for such paralysis of imagination.

Sport, amongst other things, is a dream-world offering escape from harsh reality and the disturbing prospect of change.

crookes been one of our best players this year imo i agree on hemingway though

I disagree RF. Crookes started the season well and caught the eye in particular for the contrast with his woeful performances last season, maybe creating a better impression than is merited. In recent weeks he hasn't been so good at all - giving away penalties and moving out of position when leaving the line hunting for interceptions. I wouldn't criticise his enthusiasm but his application could be better focused.
