Toulouse v Rochdale. Dirty French - RFL appoint top ref to game

Recommended Posts

I hear the RFL have are sending one of their best refs to Toulouse for the top of the table clash.  Maybe the drama in the last game required better scrutiny of Rochdale's tactics.

35C on Friday, but down to 23C on Saturday.

Does anyone want to offer predictions ?  Clean / dirty / revenge / fizzer and what will be the score ?

Do we have any 'best' refs? Maybe you will get Joe Cobb!!

Predicting a gaggle of Hornets drinking the Melting Pot dry on Saturday. Enjoy the game.

They aren't sending one of the full timers so your hearing may be wrong

Weird situation for Toulouse if they win, they will be confirmed as league leaders with three spare matches to try and avoid injury before the deciding promotion play-off. Pretty stupid system TBH, 1st place should be an automatic promotion. I expect this will be an issue for Toronto next year as well unless they change the system.

Jamie Bloem is the ref.  https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jamie_Bloem

Anyone know much about him?

Poacher turned gamekeeper which is always good!

Cobb is reffing the West Cumbria Derby on Sunday. God help us all.

Time to get past the idea refs make that big a difference for 99.9999999% of games.

And just in case for the other 0,0000001% they make no difference at all!

Of course refs make a difference. Some refs let the game flow and are less strict on some aspects of the game, others are less lenient and you end up with a penalty fest. Some teams are well suited to one kind of ref, others to a different style. What I have noticed is that when SL refs drop down to the Championship the game becomes more tedious as they tend to blow for every minor infringement. They may not ultimately decide the outcome but they do decide the style and flow of the game.

I’m not prejudiced, I hate everybody equally

Yeah, I don't like that system. 1st should be champions and be promoted. That is the obvious reward.
