  1. I do agree with you regarding wastage. Given that there is much more awareness of the environment and the damage we are doing to it, I would like to see a stop to the ridiculous unsustainable habit of a new shirt being released for flogging to Joe Public for every new tournament (as well as clubs bringing out a new shirt every season along with 'special' one off shirts for Magic w/e, Pride etc..). As per usual it's profit over planet. Most of this tat will eventually end up shipped abroad in two years time when punters upgrade to the next new shirt. It will end up dumped in some impoverished African country for them to deal with the environmental consequences, at which point the kit manufacturers, clubs, and sports governing bodies will be nowhere to be seen.
  2. Photo from the recent Radnicki Novi Beograd v Radnicki Nis Serbian league game. "Eyup lads, does my bum look big in this shirt?"
  3. My pleasure sir. I did manage visit the Athletic Grounds when I was a teenager twice in 1979 (I've just looked it up in a book of Wigan records & stats!). The first time the game was called off due to the atrocious weather while we were in the cafe/bar (I think it was called the Hornets Nest?). The second time was for the rearranged game about a week later - which felt like it was even colder! Wigan won 6-2 (according to the book), but it was so cold I was just glad to get back on the coach! Good luck to the Hornets.
  4. This pic is courtesy of Rochdale Hornets RLFC 1958 - 1964 Facebook page. It's the 1958 Challenge Cup tie between Hornets V Bradford Northern at Rochdales old ground the Athletic Grounds. What caught my attention was the size of the crowd.
