  1. It is my subjective opinion. Even setting the bar at your level, there are a lot of them. Having asserted that, my key point remains that the clubs and the competition produce many top class players, and yet we are so so far behind the NRL in telling the world what we are privileged to see every week, and far too meekly concede the NRL = gods narrative that most of the NRLers ascribe to.
  2. If Lam doesn’t tell him that - however fair or unfair it is - his technique is under close scrutiny, then he isn’t doing his job.
  3. I must confess that I have not actually prepared a list of those 100 players, but looking at WIgan’s squad we have 15 English players good enough to play in the NRL. Saints will have at least that many. The pool from which we draw players is far shallower, but once those players are in our system they get excellent coaching, training and exposure to high level games. Smithies for instance may not have been a stand out compared to many players in the Aussie youth system, but has clearly out stripped huge numbers of Aussies by virtue of the environment in which he played. What is scandalous is that the RFL and the clubs over here have been so abject at selling our game, and our players.
  4. As Smithies and KPP and the Club World Champions for the last 2 years show, there is very little difference between a good SL and a good NRL player. Our top 100 players would get a game. Sutton and Hodgson perfectly illustrate the point. SL massively undersells itself and its players.
  5. I remember dreading Monday morning assemblies, with the Widnes contingent at our school pitying a poor Wigan fan, a club about which this headline could have been written. I even found myself rooting for FC as one of the few clubs who could beat them, as indeed they did in a glorious replayed Cup Final. A few years later, along came Brett Kenny and John Ferguson and then… the wheels can turn, and I hope they do for FC. They simply need to find some Knocker, Crane and Topliss DNA from somewhere.
  6. Wow!!! That is absolutely amazing work. Where can I buy tickets to their World Cup????
  7. I ring them at least once a year to see what deals are on offer. They are always very friendly, and I always end up better off (or less out of pocket as Mrs Exiled would frame it). If you have a few minutes to spare of course.
  8. I can’t imagine anyone hates a game that means absolutely nothing to any of us. It is as relevant to our lives as the kangaroo racing in calgoolie (am guessing that’s a place name). Honestly this is a sad compulsion - surely they have their own web sites? If not, maybe you could set one up.
  9. But but but everyone loves fumblecheeserolling - ALL of Sydney can’t get enough of it.
  10. I am not sure if you picked up on this but that top is for a very good cause.
  11. That is so harsh on Salford and Sneyd, who were 3 minutes from a very well deserved victory.
  12. Is that the attendance or tickets sold/allocated? I think the figure should always be tickets sold/allocated, because that takes out “life” choices/illness etc.
  13. I just wanted ri double check - this is still a TGG thread?
