  1. Ireland needs a permanent RL club (and also professional Cricket club, de facto national team). Maybe Irish 32-County Rugby League & Cricket Club. ("32-County" can be replaced by "4-Province", "Shamrocks", "Harps" etc.)
  2. Why there are no London Scottish, London Irish and London Welsh in Football?
  3. In the long run, I think that the popularity of Football will be replaced by Futsal, like 11-player Handball disappeared.
  4. To become more popular in North America, Soccer must increase the number of goals and decrease the number of draws drastically.
  5. I am a fan of Glasgow City Ladies, but they are amateur! Women's sports are not strong in Scotland.
  6. Please understand what we are discussing. We are not discussing "what tactic is better?", but "what rules are necessary?". Power-play tactic is used when a side desperately needs goals--like score is 1-3 and remaining time is 5:00. In such case, there is of course high risk of conceding goals. (The same can be said about the power-play tactic in Ice Hockey etc.)
  7. In Football, there is no such necessity. In Futsal, one player who can use hands is needed because of goal-throw, but this problem can easily be solved by allowing goal-kick like Football.
  8. Really I do not understand your point, but do you agree with me on the point that there is no necessity for the rule that "there must be a Goalie on the pitch"?
  9. There is a rule that "There must be a Goalkeeper on pitch" in both Football and Futsal. But I think that this rule should be abolished for the Ice-Hockey style power-play in the end of game.
  10. Futsal's rules are decided by FIFA. 11-player Football rules are decided by IFAB. This partially explains why Futsal rules are more logical than Football. And the number of a squad has been increased from 12 to 14. There is a problem in Futsal's rules. That is goal-throw. In Futsal, play is re-started by goal-throw unlike Football's goal-kick. So there must be a Goalie (Goalkeeper) who can use hands. For that reason, in the case of power-play (when goals are necessary, all 5 on-pitch players do offense like Ice Hockey's last minutes), there still must be a Goalie. Goal-kick should be allowed, and the rule that there always must be a Goalie must be abolished.
  11. In my opinion, 11-player Football will decline and Futsal will become popular than 11-player Football. The same happened in Handball, 11-player Handball (100m*60m) disappeared and today "Handball" means 7-player Handball.
  12. I do not think so. The 3-point system means that the value of games are different. The value of draw games is 2 points; while the value of non-draw games are 3 points. This is extremely illogical. If the number of draw games should be reduced and attacking play should be encouraged, that should be done in a logical way. By the way, the 3-point system is adopted by also Hockey (not Ice Hockey). I am, of course, opposed to the 3-point system in Hockey.
  13. I am not against discouraging defensive tactic. However, it must be done in a logical way. The 3-point system is illogical. Yes, there are too many 0-0 draws. But there are also 4-4 draws. Discouraging defensive play should be done in another way--for example, reducing the number of on-pitch players from 11 to 10, more strict judgements on fouls, Futsal-like 2nd PK, larger goals, etc etc.
  14. By the way, what do you think about the 3-point system in Football? (Win 3, Draw 1, Lost 0) This system has been introduced from the 1994 World Cup finals. (In the qualifiers, win was still 2 points.) I am strongly opposed to this system, because this is illogical. Think about this case: A 2-0 B A 0-2 B C 1-1 D C 1-1 D A and B got 3 points; C and D got 2 points. Do you think that this is logical?
  15. It seems that my suggestion for increasing the number of subs and unlimited substitutions is not very popular. However I think this has a great advantage--these can change the image that Rugby (both League and Union) are sports for large people, except Union's 9 (Scrum Half). If substitutions are unlimited, there can be a place kick specialist--who can be very short.
