Super Eights fixtures

Correct me if I am wrong but think it is Workington, Whitehaven and Sheffield at home and Bradford, Halifax, Dewsbury and Swinton away.

That is a reasonable set of fixtures and no long away trips! We will be ready for Workington next time we play them at Bower Fold too! We have already done the double over Sheffield and Swinton are not as strong as they were earlier in the season. The destiny is in our own hands and after two weeks off to put today to bed we'll be fine!

I just had a thought.  Someone is sat at RFL HQ working out the fixtures for the Championship Shield.  If we we're to find ourselves needing points to survive in the last game, who would they pit us against. Swinton?  Worky?

Let's hope consolidation status has been achieved long before then.

I have a theory.  I reckon Workington arrived at Bower Fold with a wet sail after their previous two victories. The momentum they'd built up before the game was shared by their fans and by the time 3.00pm came around, we were on a hiding to nothing.  Sure, we too needed the points, but not as badly as them.

It was similar to the promotion final last year.  Keighley had no chance of winning that game, the moment was Oldham's and we claimed what everyone thought was rightly ours.

Yet, in the dying moments of the game at the weekend, one missed Workington tackle would have given us the win.  That's how close we came to denying the drowning man his straw.

The next game will be different.  We're now a team with something to prove. Workington had their day but we earned this Championship place and we want to hang on to it.  They will have a returning-from-injury player in Callum Phillips but we too will have different men at our disposal.

Cut out the soft tries, play like we can and we'll be off to Heywood Road to show Swinton who's boss.

We're going to have to go at em from minute 1 to 80.As Dave alluded to,we will have different players at our disposal, that could be the difference. One things for sure, its going to be one hell of a game. I hope we turn up in numbers to support the squad through this very important fixture.
