  1. what a nobhead their big centre is disputed every call ran in every time to cause trouble and best of all conceded to hand feth the game with his ###### play put that on the fax moan list
  2. i remember going down to post office road to watch a challenge cup game between Sharlston Rovers and Dewsbury i certainly know what that game added to the competition a gate of 2000 a great game of rugby league and a great result for the underdog so get off your high horse and lets here it for the underdog the Hunslet Hawks Champions in their own right.

  4. A truly great player Carl was one of three Lance Todd Trophy winners to come from the mining village of Sharlston and he will be sadly missed R.I.P Carl.
  5. ban all the overseas imports for me Featherstone Rovers had its best sides ever from within a stones throw of post office road and it would happen again given time. Bring back the county cup games and make National leagues one league and promotion and relegation to be decided at the end of each season.
  6. seem to recall wakey academy won the championship this year or last so they must have a few good local lads coming through. But if you care to look up how many duel registered players from Wigan Saints and Leeds just for example are playing for National teams this would tell you just how many good young players these 3 clubs alone have over the likes of Wakey London and Salford so at this moment in time they must need the imports more to try and compete at the same level as the Wigans.I honestly think the draft system they have in American football could be a way of making clubs play on a more even footing the bottom clubs betting the pick of at least one top player before they are plundered by the richer and more desirable clubs .
  7. that is exactly why the RFL and sky should help the clubs who get promote perform on a level footing with the clubs already in that division as does the FA with the likes of Blackpool at least Blackpool are getting their stadium completed as well as team building and then they have a great season playing the likes of Man U Liverpool and Arsenal. Then if they do get relegated dont they get an umberella payment for it. So why deny a club the honour of playing at a higher level and being helped to do so by the people elected to promote all rugby league at profesional level and not just the super duper league.
  8. you have to speculate to accumulate and that's what the Hunslet board are trying to do and i really wish them well.My old club Featherstone are a shining example of what can be done from a lot of endeavour and a little good fortune and long may these clubs who are steeped in rugby league history be allowed to continue with more help from the rfl and sky tv the championship could be a success in its own right.
  9. Being a relative outsider as far as Hunset are concerned i find Bowes comments in very poor taste, I wouldn't go as far as saying Sour Grapes but what little i have seen regarding the ambitions and running of the club the board have done everything in their power to get the club back to where it was a few years ago, the players are doing the business on the field and getting there wages paid promptly. The ground has very good facilities but for me lacks any atmosphere what so ever and would be the first thing i would change if it were possible. As far as the supporters go the ones that go are very very loyal and for me are being let down by the local media not giving the club enough support by promoting the club, and it seems they regard one club in the city as sufficient but I'm sure with a little effort from the likes of look North. Radio Leeds. and the Yorkshire and evening News the missing 500 or so that once frequented the club might be persuaded to return. So Mr Bowes before trying to kill a club off which has a great past and like york is a Yorkshire side you should welcome their endeavours or would you prefer to see the French and Welsh take your place i for one would not but I've only been watching and playing rugby league in this great county for sixty years so what would i know.
  10. My quick thoughts on the game unbiased i assure you. Feth had the worst of the weather playing downhill and didn't get enough points on the board second half out gunned in the collision which put you under pressure which resulted in pens conceded. Weather was far better for attacking down the slope and Toulouse made it count, on the ref issue 2 poor decisions 1 when your winger pushed his opposite number away and conceded a pen and the other when Morrison off loaded when the ref called held which was marginal otherwise they were up for it and just edged it nothing you can do but forget it and win the rest of your games simple feth are a good unit so blaming the ref out of frustration was silly.
  11. sorry for the confusion yes Colin played loose forward in the late 60s early 70s what Colin lacked in size he undoubtedly made up for with his ball handling and vision we won the a team championship in 71 -72 season and i think we won 14 games on the trot that season beating hull K.R in the final i know Micky Gibbins son posts on here i wonder if there was a photo of the team in his dads testimonial programme
  12. Could i just wish an old rovers team mate a very speedy recovery from a dreadful illness. Everyone up at Sharlston is thinking about him and his family and i hope the treatment hes going to have will be a success all the very best mate fro one Colin to another.
  13. sounds all doom and gloom on here at the moment Phil .Fans worried about Hunslet worried about Workington potentially Featherstone should be looking at top 4 in the league not worrying about beating teams in a lower league the Leigh game sounded out of character for your boys but every team has a blip now and again.think your right about playing the Huns they will surely test any non confidence you may have with your league position as it is the cup has to take priority as far as revenue is concerned early days for your boys yet so get behind them
