Workington Town Legacy Initiative

I'm not sure how many on here visit the Town website but anyone who does will have seen that the club have launched an initiative to help secure the future of the club for future generations. This is obviously all the more important given the situation that York City Knights find themselves in at present.

The Travellers Rest Supporters Club have joined this legacy initiative by launching a crowd funding page on justgiving.com. We have set an ambitious target of £10,000 over the next 30 days so if anyone out there would like to make a donation, no matter how large or small (I personally think that 10,000 people giving £1 would mean more than a single person giving the lot!) please go to our crowd funding page at crowdfunding.justgiving.com/TRSC and make your donation. The link is also available on the Town website and if anyone can share it please do so to help us reach as many Town fans as possible.

The shares and name a seat are also other options of helping the club and getting something back in return wether it be owning a part of the club through the shares or having your name or that of relatives and friends  past and present.

If only 40 fans could afford to buy a £500 stake in the club it would go a long way to bridging the cash shorfalll we have at the moment. I will be doing that tomorrow and also will be naming seats for my grandchildren and Mam and Dad who were big Town fans.

The most important thing is for everyone to rally around the club and donate what they can to any of the 3 initiatives whatever the amount. The future of this great club is in our hands..

£400 reached , donations from Oldham and Leigh fans come on ,no game next week, probably away in first game of the 8s.........that will mean more cash flow problems..... If the club follows the just giving page they can budget for this guaranteed income.UTT

The great escape is on. We've got A chance

Come on Townies, no game this week, so my £20 is going to the fund, I wont miss it as that's what I would spend on match days (on average ) £16 entrance, £1 halftime draw, £3 pint, if 300 did the same that's £6000, come on lads and lassies do it, lets all do our bit.

I am trying to make my donation but whenever i click on this link I just get a blank page! Can if not be done via a phone?

It should work, however there is an official link on the Workington Town Twitter page (as of now, third message down). Try that one or donate at the Club Office.

Is there any way you can find out how effective the lottery and team builder draws are and how much they raise yearly?

I see there have been no results for the 'Superfan Lotto' since 10th June? Is it still in operation?

How about using the 2 week break to make a fans collectable DVD . film the squad training and or in the gym etc and individually go through the players and ask all of them the usual questions , such as favourite movie , favourite drink , married to whom , single , engaged , home town , fav music , hobbies , past career highlights , future hopes etc . Package it as a supporters gift and sell it via the market stall or on the website or match day .

Phoned up today to buy a seat name, spoke to 2 different woman who didn't know much about it and after 5 mins I was told the bloke who is organising this is on holiday for 2 weeks and to phone back then.

I said I had my card ready to go but they didn't know how to take money using a card over the phone....

Us Cumbrians really don't help our selves - came across as an amateur operation.

I think Barry is away on holiday, ask for Tony Boyd am sure he will be able to sort you out Frisky.

This really isn't the point though,

how many other people have rang up and been dealt with in such an amateur way, we need to striking whilst the irons hot, the team is playing well , interest will be on the up and positive and whilst the club is on its knees asking for help and we don't have a facility to take money.......

On a positive note the just giving page has just topped £1100 after an individual called Patrick Leonard donated £250...well done that man.........but only 39 people have donated in this way.....If you haven't done it do it now, it's really easy.

I've managed to pursuade friends to donate, stressing it's a community asset, it's a Workington legacy It's our town , our club and we can all make a difference by donating a small amount.

On the previous point ref the club office .....I've emailed Barry Scholey and the club so let's hope the club sharpens its operations up pronto.

I totally agree Ginock1, the club are asking for help and then you cant give them it !!! was only pointing out that Tony is always at hand and I am sure would have sorted something out if the office couldn't, but ye it should better I agree.
