Thornton Happy With Timing Of Break

Doncaster Rugby League head coach Gary Thornton believes the Challenge Cup final weekend came at the right time for the Dons.

Victory last time out against Keighley Cougars saw his side move four points clear of their West Yorkshire rivals with three games remaining.

With that and the current league standing, Thornton is pleased the Dons do not currently find themselves in a precarious position with three games remaining.

"We wanted to make sure there was not too much pressure on us going into the break," said Thornton.

"I think the win has taken a bit of pressure off us, especially with York losing so we move into fourth spot.

"We can't sit back, we have potentially five games left if we can get to the Grand Final and that is our aim now.

"We have to do really well in the three games coming up and hopefully we will have some more players back.

"The two weeks off allows us to sort Mason Tonks out, Jason Tali and Zac Braham could potentially return against Rochdale Hornets.

"Ideally we will have a lot stronger squad going into our final three matches, but we will need that as we have those three games in eight days. "
