Hayne Quits 49ers

Recommended Posts

Hayne appears to have too many different ambitions and none of them doing what he is best at in the prime of his career.

Talent is secondary to whether players are confident.

I can't really blame the guy Allora. I get what you are saying, for sure.

But the fella has won a WC, won a SOO. When he left he was regarded by many the best player in the world. He has achieved so much in RL and has the fortune of being in a position to test himself and compete on some of the worlds grandest scales.

I would hope he wants to make the most of his talent and face the tough challenges, and so he'll come back to league. Maybe he lacks drive and miotivation these days and has got used to standing around doing nothing. In which case v----- ball would be ideal for him.

I wonder if he was approached by the Fiji RU people. He's almost certainly earning a fair crust at the 49ers and to leave that with less than 100 days before the Rio games suggests that he was contacted with a view to representing Fiji in the RU Sevens.

I can understand the pull of representing one of his nations at the Olympics. After that, though, maybe NFL again. There were other franchises interested in him when he went to San Francisco.

Interesting Futtocks. Perhaps a move back to NFL. Did sound like he called it a day though.

I doubt the Fiji RU chased him. They are the worlds best. I reckon he contacted them with a view to win an Olympic gold medal.

Maybe they contacted him, maybe he contacted them. But to walk out of his NFL deal so close to the Olympics suggests that there have been expressions of interest from the Fijian side, whoever started the conversation.

Reading the quotes it was Fiji who approached him, but you'd imagine they would have had an indication from someone he was willing and keen to make it happen.

He'll be back in the NRL afterward.

He won't be making any serious money or making any kind of impact playing Union for Fiji outside of the Olympics.

This is a huge surprise.

I was sad to see him leave League but it sounded like he had a genuine dream to try and make it in the NFL so I kind of respected that.

Now it seems like his dream all along has been to play Rugby Union 7's at the Olympics I am beginning to feel he is less chasing a dream than chasing more fame.

Whilst I think he will be back in League next year, there could be some cashed up French Union clubs showing an interest. He would be the true definition of a Marquee signing should the Good Dr decide he wants him. He'd certainly add a few bums on seats that's for sure!

The 49ers definitely focused Hayne's attitude towards training, as he has admitted himself. So it would be a shame for all that hard work to be utterly wasted standing about in RU, waiting for that week's pass.

He could come back to NRL, but I think he might feel he still has a point to prove in the USA.

Boredom whilst waiting for a pass tempered by the thought of the cash he'd most certainly get in France. He'd surely command more than Dan Carter, who's on AU$2.5 Million a season.......not many clubs can afford that and Didn't he once say he'd only ever play for the Eels ....they'd have to shift a few stars. It all depends what he wants.......glory, money or professional satisfaction. The first 2 he'll get in Union or NFL, but the latter only in League!

He's an unproven NFL player who whilst undoubtedly talented, was still always going to be a fringe player in a very average squad at SF.

Fingers crossed for him to become a SL marquee signing, eh?

For it to be viable, he would need to add close to 5k to the gate or attract a major sponsor. The Only club I can think of is Salford at the Doc is cashed up and he'd swallow a million a year over 2 years to see if he could kick-start the Salford fans into getting to games.

Careful, after lying dormant the much banned shoehorned of cross code nonsense is stirring.

No it isn't, but you let your paranoia run free. I said the only thing that would stop him coming home is cashed up French Union. That's a simple fact.....as I've just said, time for a SL club to use their Marquee signing.

If he made no bones about playing for another NRL club he probably would get paid more in Oz than in French Union is my guess. He is not going to get paid anywhere near what Dan Carter gets in France as a Winger/Centre if we're realistic as he's not played any form of rugby recently (could be paid a fair wack just not quite in with Unions superstars).

A Super Rugby contract might actually be better for him as he would be seen as a coup for the ARU and they might be more likely to wait until he is back up to full speed. Also I wouldn't say he was that big a name in Union circles outside of Australia before he went to the 49ers so Boudjellal (a.k.a. our Koukash) might not sign him just yet for the shirt sales.

I do think it's unlikely he'll come to us just yet but a small stint with an ARU side or short season in the Japanese top league before the NRL season starts in 2017 would be possible.

Seems like someone on twitter is questioning whether Hayne can comply with the Olympic rules https://twitter.com/ringsau/status/731958448238137345

World whatever don't control eligibility for the Olympics.....that's the IOC. Hayne was tapped up by Fiji and as such, they'll have already made sure he's cool for cats.......Fiji have never won a medal at the Olympics and them winning an Olympic medal this year would be a national event.

I haven't got a clue - it just appeared on my timeline.

I think they have made a mistake here. Great for Hayne but a real p****r for some fantastic Fijian 7s player who has been flogging the circuit for the last year or so. It's like Tohu Harris and SBW all over again. Fiji don't really need him - fantastic player though he is.
