  1. I believe he means league table position where they've finished first for the last 3 year as I presume that is how the funding will be worked out. I expect you knew that tho
  2. But you've just pointed out that if hunslet had a millionaire backer it wouldn't make a difference as they'd still be restricted to whatever they could spend with the salary cap so surely the two relegated teams won't be able to spend any more than the rest of the championship so it wouldn't give them any advantage in getting promoted. And on the point of millionaire owners being bad for the game, it all depends how the money is spent, for example Moran at Warrington has spent money investing in their academy which has helped as we are now seeing a lot more Warrington juniors playing in sl. To a lesser extent Campbell and nahaboo at Fev are investing in facilities at the ground with the new stand being built and also with new training facilities and more coaches so that the club can bring through more home grown players. Hopefully this sort of investment will help Fev if we ever get sl as would mean we wouldn't have to chuck money at other teams and steal academy lads off cas wakey. I know wait for you to tell me how I'm wrong and it's bad for the game and how nahaboo should have gone wot wakey with his money
  3. If p&r comes back could we not give the promoted team an exemption from relegation for say a season or two?
  4. I'd thought andy Ellis would have been in with a shout personally but that might be club bias. Either way I can't argue with the nominations
  5. That's my only problem with the article is the wsy it's presented as if there's going to be some mass exodus of players when in actual fact all it's saying is the players would consider moving for money. I think anyone would consider moving jobs for more money.
  6. What a pathetic post to make. McNamara might not be everyone's cup of tea and for me the jury's still out till after the wc but to lambast him before hes selected the squad or before a ball has even been kicked is just immature. Plus to suggest that none of the players you mentioned would get selected is even more pathetic and immature.
  7. From what I've heard he was joining us next season as bastions assistant any way
  8. Why can't we have expansion teams as well keeping with traditional heartland clubs? Why does it confine the game? Surely we can still expand the game to other areas but by building clubs up like we're doing now with clubs like Hemel etc by introducing clubs through the championship one so they can build up a fan base and a following and creating ties with local businesses rather than just chucking them into sl before they're ready and then watching it go up in flames ala crusaders and Gateshead. And by having p and r it gives the clubs something to play for. Just keep minimum standards
  9. I agree completely with this, while the current system has helped push clubs to getting there houses in order there's still no guarantee of promotion from the cc. Promotion with minimum standard would be the way to go for me
  10. The game isn't big enough and hasn't got enough fans to exclude clubs, especially clubs in the heartlands where the games got its biggest following. It seems to me that a lot of people on here want a closed shop sl with some expansion teams getting chucked in every few year replacing some of the smaller teams. To me that's just going to alienate fans in the championship when there clubs have nothing to play for and they'll just stop going. Clubs will either end up being feeder clubs or going bust. Plus surely it would be better for a club like Toulouse to come up through the championship than just being chucked into sl at the depend? For me we need some form of p&r but with minimum standards where if you win your league and meet the standards set you get promoted, no applying and getting knocked back. Raise the cap in the cc so that the clubs that can afford to spend more can so there's not as big a jump to make if they do make sl, and introduce teams like Toulouse into the cc, give them the same chance of getting sl as everyone else. Give clubs something to fight for and it would make for more intense games IMO
  11. It's alrights saying that dropping to the championship would kill clubs because they lose their overdrafts and things but what does that say to the cc clubs that have sl ambitions? That when you're in that league you haven't got a chance of going any where so just give up. Then what? Fans leave in droves and clubs go bust? Martyn sadler might as well just say sl should be a closed shop (unless you're an expansion team like Toulouse) and teams like Fev, fax, batley etc should just pee off because you haven't got a chance. The game isn't big enough and hasn't got enough fans to exclude clubs.
