  1. What isn't mentioned by "pundits" is how shocking our injury list was at times last season, we didn't go more than a fortnight without having to change 2 or 3 of the spine or missing some key forward. Never had chance to build consistency, and when there was some stability, it showed in good results.
  2. How many coaches will Hull sack until they figure out that maybe it's not a coaching issue?
  3. Giants missing a couple of forwards. We *can* win, but I'm not expecting it this week.
  4. The reality is ... We are 6 games into the first season this system has been operating and no one knows how it will shake out. What we do know is RL fans would rather complain than support, and are the sports own worst enemies, perhaps after the club chairmen. The plan is to create a level field, for ANY club to get into the top, and to lift all club standards. It's not an easy job, it's not a quick job, so why not wind you whinging, parochial, necks in and look at the bigger picture. I remember now why I stopped looking at RL sites.
  5. Super 8's Are you people on drugs? Can you not remember what an unmitigated disaster it was? Return to P&R? We aren't even half a season in to the new model and folk want it changed. I've seen just about every variation of how the league has been organised, messed about with, chopped and changed - and the only thing that brings competition AT THE TOP is scrapping P&R and not allowing 1 bad season to derail years of work It takes 3+ years to build a competative squad, It takes a generation to bring youth through an academy, it takes multiple generations to build a dynasty. None of that can be done with automatic P&R That's why only 4 teams have won Super League, because no one else can recruit more than a year ahead
  6. Credit to Hull, but this week and last, your resolve definitely stiffened after the break
  7. London played some entertaining stuff, and their defence was full of energy at times - which I think very much disrupted the Giants attack. Superleague is a game of millimetres and if you're no on it, you can get blown away, London are damn close to being a competitive team, and I hope they find a benefactor, and time to build again. Good to see lots of none northern/Aussie players in the London roster too. Downside is the Sky comments being unable to tell certain players apart on a number of occasion...really not a good look.
  8. As daz39 said, too many to pick from for a Huddersfield fan watching for 40+ years - the 80s were grim in many ways. First go on SL I remember a game at home v London, it was a night game, pouring rain, freezing and two awful teams playing awful rugby - I was definitely wondering what I was doing with my time then, worse than some of the drubbings we took those season (no central funding, Schofield as coach then the M word...)
  9. Is that not arguably because 1. Wigan hoover up all the local talent so have the biggest range to generate those top players. 2. Hull don't have an academy so they can't produce top players? It takes years for academies to produce consistently good results and that means funding and patience, Hull seem to lack both
  10. Jeez your not wrong. The Facebook comments are scandalous, absolutely boss eyed nonsense. The fact Hull scored will be the point of criticism, and not the champagne stuff we scored at times. As for our crowd - sure, the cup isn't well supported but 2pm on a Saturday is awful, frankly. Purely anecdotal but because of the timing my group of 7 was reduced to 2. Play that game on Sunday or Friday night, and the crowd is twice the size - and as the game wasn't on TV I am scratching my head as to why that time and date was picked.
  11. Regarding Hulls current struggles, a bad season can impact a club for years, a bad coaching appointment can do the same As a Giants fan, the appointment of Rick Stone as coach (combined with the truly appalling 888 league) set us back a decade imo. From league leaders, playoff semis, and genuinely looking like contenders we spent near a decade struggling again - so I feel sorry for Hull fans having seen my own club do this (and then some). At the game yesterday, you could see the kernel of something at Hull, Tony Smiths touch was in the good things they did, but it takes time. I'd say unlike the Giants who had to scramble to fix things in the 888 era, Hull should at least be fairly comfortable that they'll be in SL next season. Suck it up now, let Tony Smith work and I'm sure it'll come good - oh and a few bad injuries to key players will wreck any clubs season, no matter what (trust me, that's one major issue the Giants were poor last year!) Anyway, COYG, let's win a final for once eh...
  12. Watching this game today, good grief Saints get away with absolute murder in the ruck. Its easy to have a great, well organised defence when the tacklers are allowed to mess around do much.
