York bringing the game into disrepute?

Bearman are you real !  Its the RFL who are to blame for this situation.

6 day notice for players to get time off work.

A stupid fixture format voted for by stupid C1 officials .

Same may happen to my club next week end.

COYD

Rochdale went on a weeks notice and won, and York comfortably beat Rochdale twice this year.

You said yourself mate, the clubs voted for this.

The six days notice is a fallacy.

Yes, it was only definite after the Rochdale result but it was a possibility from when the top 5 were known.

"Hope for the best, plan for the worst" as Jack Reacher would say.

They're paying players £50 to take 2 days off work and travel to France.

They're flying from Manchester to Toulouse which is great but after the game they're being dragged 5 hours across Southern France to fly out of Barcelona and into Gatwick where they'll be subjected to another 5 hours getting bussed back to Yorkshire.

The RFL didn't help this situation when they announced that win or lose York can't be promoted!

Why not wait a few days before making that announcement, they're basically asking the players to lose money and get dragged about all weekend for a dead rubber.

I feel sorry for the York players

I feel sorry for them too and you can blame the chairman for putting them in this position, not the RFL or Toulouse or anyone else. They traveled there earlier in the season without a full 17 too, something every other League 1 team has managed to do.

Travelling to and from Toulouse doesn't have to be a 'dead rubber'. Rochdale proved that and they managed to get it sorted and get a result.

The RFL could have prevented this farce weeks ago when the York problems first surfaced. The Super 8s place should have gone to the next placed team with York playing in the Shield competition. Yes, hindsight is easy but the warning signs were there for all to see so why has this situation been painfully dragged out like this ?

Absolutely not just because they can't be promoted (pending an appeal) doesn't mean they have nothing to play for. They earned their right to be in the play offs. Initially they could've won the comp and now they can finish second. They probably won't with all the things going on but they still have the right to be in this comp.

The lack of promotion availability isn't new as it was part of the deal when the new owner took over

You tell us.

Just trying to put across what the feeling will be Lionel. Their thought will be for their own livelihoods.

A lot of the players, having spent money getting to training, putting their bodies on the line and then getting a few token quid for their efforts will be looking for other clubs. York doesn't generate many home grown players now with only Acorn doing any good in the amateur game, so highly reliant on players from Hull and West Yorks.

Yes I see what you mean lowdesert. It is though at moments like these that new owners and coaches will initially look at each player to see how they have reacted to a dreadful situation not of their making. The club naturally includes the owner and York's current position may not seem as attractive as it was some months ago. Most certainly the players coaches and staff deserve great praise. Just imagine how attractive the proposition would have been with promotion and ground security!

Coaches will have been in the game for some time so will not even consider this for one second. What they will consider is whether they have a squad to coach and what that squads requirements and resources are. Additionally any prospective coaches will need to know whether they themselves will get paid.

If there was no off field dramas and promotion still to play for, then York would have taken a full squad. Rochdale managed it with the same amount opf notice.

Heck, if there were no off field dramas then York would have been playing in Toulouse last week and would either have their feet up on a beach or be playing at home this weekend.

It is personal, because he's destroyed my club.
