Why does the "investor" insist on anonymity?

You will have to ask "them"!

Sorry, I thought that some fans might have more inside information. I appreciate that you are all just as much outside of the loop as everyone else.

A real bummer for the fans.

The Sheffield Eagles may yet spread their wings and be flying again.

Here is the statement from the club from earlier today.

http://sheffieldeagles.com/News/Article/46993

Sheffield Eagles can confirm John Whaling left his role as CEO at the club with immediate effect last week. The club would like to place on record it’s thanks to John during what has been a very difficult year.

During the interim period, Mark Aston will resume the role as CEO which he previously undertook until the beginning of 2015. Along with Mark, Chris Noble MBE and Ian Anniss remain in place as directors of the club and Liam Claffey will continue with the day-today running of the club as General Manager.

The club can confirm we are exploring various options for a 2017 venue, away from the Olympic Legacy Park. We are told the pitch and surroundings will still be installed by March 2017, however seating and other facilities would need to then be installed to meet RFL minimum requirements meaning playing at the OLP for the majority of the 2017 season will not be possible.

Talks have continued this week with the potential new sponsor of the club. Talks were positive and the club are hopeful an agreement can be reached shortly. We thank the players and staff for their handling of the current situation and those supporters who have remained patient during this difficult time and assisted the club financially through the fundraising efforts on gofundme.com.

The club remains in constant dialogue with Sheffield City Council, The RFL & Olympic Legacy Park Ltd and thank them for their continued assistance.

Genuine question are the Eagles going to avoid administration & avoid the big drop to League 1.

Doncaster fan

I hope so.I cannot afford travel to Toronto at this moment in time.

There has not been any mention of this ( administration ) for several weeks but we still don't - and won't - know what the difference of opinion was which led to John Whaling leaving the club.

I expect the whole thing to be clearer in November.

I can wait for good news - it is the sudden bad news and money requests that do me.

I actually think some players are hanging-on,and staying loyal to the club while this mess sorts itself out.

Backroom staff seem to have left.

You will be behind the other clubs recruitment wise , the ground situation is also a big problem ! Assuming you get a generous sponsor or sponsors.

I hope that the Eagles survive. The ground issue might be tricky though as I understand that last season's arrangements were strictly for one year and no longer. Back to Doncaster?

It would seem every effort is concentrated on playing in Sheffield in 2017.

I would hope we do not return to Bawtry Road, but apart from your post I have not been aware of any arrangement being for one year.

I would think that playing on a Sunday with a 3pm k.o. pretty much rules out any chance of playing at Doncaster.

There again, things do seem to change quite rapidly - and people do have differences of opinion.

Oh my opinion counts for naught I'm afraid. It was just something that I had picked up after last year's Championship Chairman's meeting, and distinctly second hand. You're right though, things do change rapidly and expedience must be the order of the day.
