I assume Matt s contract will not start until this season finishes for both us and the Bulls.

Does anyone know just how much influence(or authority)he will have with regard to any singings or DR arrangements.

Also now that Lingard has gone is he bringing his own deputies.

I almost feel sorry for the guy.

A lot of people will expect him to match John Kear's top four finish

,,

especially with the greatly increased budget.

It's almost a no win situation.

Having said that, all the very best wishes to matt and everyone involved with the club, for a similarly successful 2017

He's not got the experience JK has, nor is it at the same level. Don't expect miracles guys, especially as he is bringing in new backing staff as well as players. Top six I'm guessing is the aim. Deflating after this year but we are rebuilding and I expect the SL team who comes down will dish out some tonkings.

Matt has been to training and travelled with the squad to headingley according to League Express , so it should be quite a smooth turnaround , think most of backroom staff apart from Linners are staying , I presume Sam Smeaton was a disco signing who was available early too , so JK took him as cover for the 8s

Id imagine Matt will have had a say on all the recruitment for next year, being the new coach and all.

He has played under some quality coaches during his playing career and by all accounts is very ambitious and is highly regarded in the game as a bright up and coming coach, and by all accounts John Kear had a massive say in him being appointed as his successor.

I agree he has some big boots to fill following Kear's coach of the year award and what we have achieved this year, but I suppose even an experienced coach coming in would find it a tough act to follow.

As fans I'm sure we'll get behind Matt and the team and hopefully he is the right man to help us continue moving forward and build on the solid foundations we have from this season.

What we're dealing with here is a complete lack of respect for the law

Obviously he must have been consulted on the re-signings, there would have been no point presenting him with an 18/20 man squad which he couldn't work with or didn't fit his plans. The interesting part will be the 6/7 players he has asked the board to approach. Hopefully it won't be too long after Sunday when we get those names.

I think he is an excellent appointment. We have had 2 experienced coaches in succession now but as young coaches go he has all the attributes to succeed. Hes a local lad who played at the highest level and surley must have learned a thing or 2 from Graham Murray. Dean Lance, Daryll Powell, Tony Smith and Brian McLennan. The fact that we have kept a sucessful squad together and if the rumoured signings weve heard come off we should have a good time of it next year.

Give over BSJ , you know we do verbal contracts , thats still a contract , your just nit picking now , you must be bored on the rams forum to bring this up

Tell that to a solicitor if you know one.

Sport, amongst other things, is a dream-world offering escape from harsh reality and the disturbing prospect of change.

Seems to me BSJ that our handshake contracts have brought us more success and stability than the written versions. Plus it allows both parties to have trust. Now let me see which other clubs could learn from that......BTW do you know a good solicitor? can recommend one if needed.

WHERE DO YOU WANT ME TO SWIPE THIS?

On another note I see Paddy Hesketh has re-signed for Keighley cougars.

"you never win a game unless you beat the guy in front of you. The score on the board doesn’t mean a thing. That’s for the fans. You’ve got to win the war with the man in front of you. You’ve got to get your man." - Vince Lombardi.
