I expect that Canada and USA will be the big movers over the next few years for our game. Which will change our world for the good forever.

Canada yes but not to sure about the US. The way RL has developed in Canada over a few short years totally eclipses what the US has or hasn't done in 10-15 years.

They both need game changing investment. The US could be next. A stronger domestic comp in the US is the way to go - it is after all an entire continent.

Thinking that huge financial investment will come and flood out of nowhere into U.S. And Canadian RL is a pipe dream. We(RL) have to take, pitch and sell our game to the money men and that's by going down the route taken by the Toronto Wolfpack and the RFL by allowing a professional Canadian RL team into the domestic British RL league pyramid system. Just look at the struggles of the FFR in trying to develop a professional league in France decade after decade and the great success story of the Catalan dragons who were allowed to enter super league and now have their own modern stadium, hardcore support of around 7000-8000 that swells to 10000+ when doing well, a clear pathway for talented French RL players that includes the successful U19's side that is near the top of its league and a proposed reserve grade side which will play against other super league reserve sides.

The same can be said about NZ RL which also struggled to develop professional RL in NZ before the Warriors entered the winfield cup with the disastrous LionRed competion which only lasted 1 or 2 seasons before being disbanded after losing huge amounts of money.

Irrespective of the lack of current RL underpinning it, Perez has pulled together a great array of sponsors and backers, and we have already seen promising crowds for the national team in Toronto. We the backing he has got, to doubt Toronto is to a great extent to doubt our game. Perez is so articulate on the challenges that face our game and on why it should appeal to Canadians (CFL was born out of League, not NFL). He really seems to know what he is doing.

The USA have a long way to go in terms of crowds ( see stadium Jamaica game was played it in link below - looks Wakey look good). There World Cup qualifiers were played in front of crowds of 500 at a high school stadium, and stadium was worse and seemingly empty versus Jamaica.

But the amount of league being played in US is promising, as is the geographical spread. There short to medium term future is a domestic one, but in its own way promising.

France and New Zealand both came with "Baggage" in the form of rugby union prejudice.

Hopefully we have entered into the New World market before RU gets the knife in(which they will as it's in their genes).

What bets PRO Rugby expands to Canada and Toronto specifically in the next few years.

By which time Toronto sports fans, viewing without prejudice, will just opine that they prefer League

Plus the fact that Canadian RU isn't as strong as the French RU or NZ RU.

The prejudice in NZ is nowhere near as prevalent as it is in this country or France

True but the pull of wearing the AllBlacks jersey is very powerful.

Did people notice that Heineken is already sponsor of Western Canada Rugby League? That suggests to me that the game is already being played in Vancouver.

If Toronto is successful, and I am confident it will be, then Montreal will follow as Eric Perez suggests, and Vancouver can't be far behind. That will be almost the basis of a Canadian conference in Super League if all those clubs can make it to Super League. You would probably only need a fourth club to have a Canadian Conference in Super League, which would be very brilliant as a growth generator of the game throughout Canada. I have the utmost confidence in the ability of Eric Perez to create something phenomenal in Canada over the next ten years.

How embarrassing for British Rugby League that a new team in Canada can get big name sponsors on board why we have to settle for Joe's discount store..

I like the idea of a Canadian conference but I'm not sure how it would work. Would the Canadian teams only play each other or would they play each other home&away and mix in a few games against the other European based super league sides??

They would play each other twice, and some if not all the English and French teams once.

A bit like the scheduling in Major League Baseball. I guess it all depends on the number of teams in super league but you could have a playoff format in which the top 2 teams in the Canadian/North American conference join the top 6 teams from the European conference in a top 8 playoff series.

I also think the NRL should go down the route of conferences in order to expand the competition as promotion and relegation is a big no no in Aussie sports.
