  1. It is a small world. I last regularly watched them in 05/06. They had a good manager and a good team at that point but the ground was barely Kent League standard. They built the foundation for a stand but missed the deadline for ground grading and so gave up on it for a while. I honestly couldn't believe it when they got promotion but I thought it was telling that it happened after they were shuffled over to the Combined Counties League, which I always thought was weaker.
  2. This hits a bit close to home for me because I grew up at the other end of Eden Park Avenue! Does the pitch still seriously slope from right to left? I can't remember the last time I went to a game.
  3. Many years ago, there was a guy in North Carolina who persistently created proposals and websites for different sports leagues. 4-on-4 basketball, indoor soccer, all sorts. One of his ideas was 11-a-side RL on the narrow gridiron fields. Strange guy, thought he stole the idea though.
  4. Is there an issue finding places to play? I remember somebody 15 years ago promoting the idea of playing 11 a side so they could play on High School football pitches.
  5. England are trying to help Ireland but we need Ireland to help themselves.
  6. I am a bit harsh as a human being. However, it's Rugby League so I'm likely right even if I don't know these people.
  7. The trees and the birds and the walking reminds me of the time I went to San Francisco in 2008. I would just walk up and down roads, look at architecture, look at the local restaurants and shops. My friend says it is not the same.
  8. It's one of the few places I'd love to move to.
  9. As I said, the older fans still have the affinity between the two clubs. They were brothers across the barricades, the punks at Union wore Hertha patches on their denim jackets and Hertha fans would pay 30 marks to go and see their friends in Köpenick. I've been reading about Union quite a bit in recent days, given they've made it into the Champions League. It seems that once the hype of the first Bundesliga derby died down, it hasn't quite bubbled up in the way it did in 2. Bundesliga. Union clearly don't have anything to prove either, while 777 Partners have struck again and Hertha are getting relegated. In many ways, Berlin is a wonderful football city and certainly a unique one. However, there are so many clubs representing so many districts and neighbourhoods that it's impossible to break through. When Viktoria got promoted to 3.Liga, they made a lot of noise about being Berlin's third team but the gap is just impossible to bridge. They don't even have a stadium to develop.
  10. Have any of you been to greekrl.com? There's no information. Googling sends me back there and yet I am the troll or moron for relying on the local association for information. I'm clearly a moron for assuming any of these people can update a website! And somehow, this proves me wrong! 8 teams in Greece playing games, yet this is the backbone of a vibrant and growing international scene. And still, I ask, what do any of you people do other than be precious on a web forum?
  11. Are you really doing anything to further RL in Europe beyond being precious on a message board? I ask because when I look for these great structures, I find that what you've written above isn't the case. Where are you getting this information? What I've found suggests there's no more than six active teams - usually less - in any of these nations. Not that getting the information is easy or even possible, such is the colossal mess that is their websites. Have the Greeks played a domestic club fixture since 2019? This is a genuine question because I find no evidence of it. I guess what you're trying to do is warp an argument to make yourself right in your own head. Congratulations, you argue like my late grandmother. Even if what you claimed is correct - which it doesn't seem to be - it is still nowhere near enough to create a vibrant and useful international game in Europe. Union can't get that and they're in every university everywhere.
  12. Most of those people are worthless. Plus, you said it yourself, Skolars have never been the best at doing the hard yards with local recruitment.
  13. I thought it was a joke that somebody wants Sean Dyche sacked. However, he's not glamorous enough for Moshiri (read: Usmanov) and they want somebody else, be it Patrick Vieira or whoever favoured agents put his way. I think that so long as Moshiri and Usmanov are making the decisions, it's inevitable that Everton will eventually be relegated.
  14. I made a joke about there only being 10 people in Europe involved with European RL and was told who needs enemies when they have friends like me. Why is it so bad - on an RL forum - to suggest that the international game is not up to snuff? Why does this mean you don't like Rugby League? I love RL but it's a shambles. You have players in international games who are Union players who have played a handful of league games in their life and can barely play the ball. Brazil Women even made the Women's World Cup like that. France aside, every country around Europe seems to be more focused on internal squabbles and shooting themselves in the foot than developing the game. You have countries with national teams but no active clubs. All ten of them is extreme but how many coaches, referees and administrators are involved in RL outside England and France? Surely less than 100 people and that's the backbone of these amateur RL systems that barely exist. I want it to work. I tried to get involved when I lived in Spain. However, it's dead or dying. I would offer my time and energy and expertise (I do have that) to help amateur RL ANYWHERE in the world. However, that needs people on the ground who can run sanctioned games that are properly insured on fields that are appropriate. Right now, I see little or nothing. Saying that out loud brings out the worst in some of you but, and this is a fair ask, what are you doing to change things?
