Rochdale game

Against a strong Rochdale Wolves, sorry Warrington Hornets, sorry whatever they were called this afternoon, the 12 men of Barrow were to a man outstanding putting in the best performance of this season. With only a minute to the final whistle we let them in for a score they didn't deserve, and despite the best efforts of someone who I won't mention they never really looked like scoring, such was the massive defensive effort from our boys.

34 -  12, a great start to the play-offs.

Completely agree with every word SJD. Barrow were superb in every department. Defence was spot on the whole match and with ball in hand they looked like scoring every time hey had the ball.

I felt so sorry for Danny Morrow to be sent off for another spear tackle which seemed to me to be completely unintentional.

What I did not like was about 5 facials in the tackle by Rochdale players which the referee never saw.

On this form it will take a good team to beat Barrow.

Thanks Raiders, we have waited all season for a full 80 minute performance, that was "A+", Every single player showed spirit, and above all it was a team against 17 individuals, who got away with a lot of ruffing up at the play the ball, and a few dubious decisions, but Barrow kept coming back at them, 12 against thirteen. hopefully sign of things to come.great entertainment, well done

The forwards were superb today led by my MOM liam Harrison. Brad the wrecking ball Brennan was fantastic when he came on and changed the game by causing chaos and panic in the Rochdale defence and fully deserved his two tries. I would be a bit annoyed if I was a Hornets fan as the duel reg players never really offered much for them today. Anyone know what went on in the stand as it appeared from the popular side like one fan was clearly annoyed with someone?

I think he turned up wearing the wrong shirt, no one told him to put on his Warrington one.

Now we know the truth as to why the Wolves didn't turn up pre-season, afraid of the embarrassment.

Cheers guys fantastic effort today from 1 to 17 and agree Danny Morrow was a bit unlucky in that tackle but unfortunately rules are rules and he had to go ... thought the worst when we lost him but the lads dug deep and bossed Hornets in every department !!

Thought the Hornets No 16 was there best player but the 2 wingers had poor games and Penny will never be a fullback as long as has an orifice in his behind ;-)

The ref was possibly the worst we have had all year (for both sides I may add) ... does anyone actually look at video's and rate the refs?

It's interesting that because Doncaster and York nwver played we are now 3rd. The top 8 appears to be

Toulouse      29 ponts      15 games     played Keighley

Rochdale     26                15                            Barrow

Barrow         21                15                            Rochdale

York             21                 14

Doncaster    20                 14

Keighley      18                  15                           Toulouse

Hunslet        18                 15                            Skolars

Skolars        16                 15                            Hunslet

Bit misleading but interesting particularly as we are at Doncaster next week

The best game at Craven Park for some time. Morrow had to go and he seemed to accept that. The few of us that stand together have tried not to criticise referees over the last couple of seasons and look at how they perform overall, usually they are as equally good or bad for both teams. It actually seems to improve the enjoyment of the game as you are concentrating on the play and not the man in the middle ( some of the shouts for offences/forward passes/ offside from the usual suspects show they watch through blue and white tinted spectacles and make John Cox's commentary seem neutral in tone). However on this occasion the performance of the ref, particularly in the first half was shocking, with the rub of the green heavily weighted in favour of the visitors -  causing me to vent my spleen at him on more than one occasion. There was stuff off the ball and high shots which could well have led to him losing control.

Great as the Raiders were in a truly superb team performance I thought Rochdale were very poor, if they had put the ball through the hands on several occasions they had numbers on Barrow and would have walked tries in. They seemed to thing an overlap was something to do with wallpapering!!

One improvement I would like to see is the speed with which Nathan Mossop gets the ball away from the play the ball. He always seems to have to stand and have a look round before he passes (not always sympathetically) and invites the opposition to advance on the eventual receiver of his pass.  Well played the Raiders, more of the same please.

The three Warrington players were almost bystanders, every time Kevin Penny got the ball he passed or threw it away and avoided taking a tackle at every opportunity. He moved to the wing and was still as inneffective as he was at fullback! Acomplete waste of time bringing them in.

Best game for a long time I mean years

Liam once more a real Spartan

How good would we be in the half backs with Campbell and dallimore with there never say die attitude

Can't see hankinson down there next season real class act

And young Brad is getting better and stronger every game

Regarding the fan in the stand who was from Rochdale

He had a argument with a Rochdale director and didn't like the reply given

This form continues and I might miss my trip to Toronto

The team spirit of the players today was absolutely fantastic.Right from the off you could see we were up for it.

Bringing in DR registration players doesn't work. Today was the proof of that. It galvanised our players to show the "Superstars" that they should not expect an easy ride. When Morrow got sent off I felt that that too would motivate us. The players would have remembered that Doncaster beat us with 12 men and so it could be done.

The Rochdale lad could have been badly injured in that tackle but I really do think it was more of an accident than malicious. I thought it was telling that Morrow was the first to stay with the injured player and the Rochdale players didn't react against him, which they would have done if had they thought it was intended.

As for Brad Brennan, all I can say is those wonderful people at Coventry really brought him on during his loan period at the Bears!

I thought Brad Brennan was great in his 1st spell with us 2 or 3 years ago and with a bit of application and keeping off the pies will only get fitter and stronger ... I guess its up to him really !!
