Cas and Batley in DR tie-up

Recommended Posts

Good OP.

Quite right Wellsy, very petty of me for that outburst, but of all the things that rankle with various people in RL land DR is my pet hate, I find the whole concept of it abhorrent.

Upon reading of this new tie-up I just had to comment, but I should have been a tad more articulate.

Same for me. Hate the concept, hate the fact that my club have entered into this agreement with another club, for whatever reason, and am at the point of deciding what my personal response should be to my club.

l just wonder if your response was the same when Leigh helped pioneer the system back in the day when you embraced your partnership with Warrington?

We DR'd with Wigan young man, Fekking hated it and it nearly killed the club, crowds dropped etc First thing new owners did was kick it into touch, its a sign of a desperate financial position imo - but rips the pride from the club.

Pre the Wigan thing, l think you will find you did the same with Warrington. l was at heh LSV when Matty Blythe scored a hat trick against us. 2010?

And l agree with your last phrase.

Never ever have I been in favour of it, also replying to your other response to Sweaty, I was at the game when Blyth scored his hat trick under duress of being a season ticket holder, not much else I can say about DR that I have not commented on before on these pages only that if Leigh entered into it again I would complain with my absence.

I was also at that game, and to clarify DR is about small clubs partnering with bigger clubs. The bigger clubs decide who is available and often who plays. What was pre DR was the smaller club could 'recruit' players (under 24?) from whichever bigger club would release them, not one specific club and was in the licensing era

And Leigh used it very successfully by taking the best players from saints & warrington,Brierly came from cas as well.

Not sure if we used wigan at that time.

Why didn't Cas DR with Wakey?

(Runs for cover)

With Halloween coming up I decided to go to my local fancy dress shop to see if I could get a Dracula costume. After a few minutes the assistant handed me a Hull KR shirt asking "Is this suitable?", I replied "I think you may have misheard me, I said I wanted to look like a count."

Aren't you making the case for DR here Gary?

Who did Blyth replace that day - would he have scored a hat trick?

It's not easy to be a purist when needs must. Hunslet didn't stay up with DR and now don't get any players from Leeds and are nestled in the "expansion" end of CC1. I don't think DR caused the issue though which was without being able to get DR quality players then the club would not at least have had a chance to be able to survive in the Championship.

It remains to be seen whether Hunslet run into the financial difficulties that once threatened closure as there may be a bit of private money going in - Proggers will know, but DR is a tool for survival. The exploits of Leeds players at Featherstone the other week got them a valuable win which hasn't been repeated without Mr. Lilley & Co?

League positions mean BIG money in the Championship.

The benefits of finishing higher are substantial funding for next year,” said Fax coach Richard Marshall, according to the Halifax Courier."

As a Batley fan I dont like it, especially after the farce we had when we had a link up with Huddersfield.

However, I think this is more out of desperation than wanting to do it, due to our current injury situation.

What we're dealing with here is a complete lack of respect for the law
