Great win - great coaches - great spirit 2

Against a big, well drilled side Oldham destroyed a Cougar team certain they could storm the fortress that is Whitebank. If ever a team name suited a bunch of lads then t'Roughyeds epitomises all that is good about this display today.

Keighley said they were " beat up" quote in the middle of the park. I Spoke with Ian Talbot , Hornets coach , coming out of the ground following their defeat, and he predicted our victory over Crusaders and said our pack was the best in the league. Today they showed again what a great platform they provide for our halves and backs.

This team played it "Rough" and tough at 100 miles an hour from the start and used t'Yeds" to comprehensively beat the Cougars with stunning passing, great support play and dogged defence on every area of the pitch. Palfrey was heard to give a " captain's talk " after they scored their second try and was heard to say, along the lines, the game is won but you will not £&@?! Drop off now!"

The lads ability to maintain the full 80 minutes has to be supported by the superb job our coaches, conditioners, physios and back room staff continue to do with such a small dedicated squad. The win came at a cost as Jack Holmes limped for most of the game with what appeared an ankle strain and Adam Clay possibly popped a rib cartilage. Fans today were treated to a rugby fest with outstanding tries.

The aim must be to keep level headed and only look to securing each victory as it comes. Great atmosphere and value for money.

TBozz, so glad to see you back on the forum. The lads today were formidable in attack and tenacious in defence, and fully deserved their win.

The pack were immense today and the half backs completely ran the game. We are looking a very organised, resolute and committed team and will be a very difficult team to beat.

great to read the previous posts, I was in awe at the commitment of the whole team. keighley supporters near me soon quietened down, and admitted there was only one team going to win this match. Any one of the team could have got m.o.m.  Well done lads we are proud of you.

Sorry late in replying Tony Mac but very busy at the moment - glad to talk about some real positives regarding the whole " team" .

Team selection is going to interesting as we must find two wingers from the squad - who do we rest? - I would like to see all the new players and that includes Ashton get a run out as we need to see their potential and give the likes of young Dempsey and Hewitt some game time. Do we risk changing the team dramatically or slot Ford on one wing with Dempsey say, on the other and keep Lippy at FB. What do you think the team should be?
