  1. With Cleary out, this was a good chance for the Roosters to break their losing streak against Penrith, but it looks like the champions have outplayed them again.
  2. The Roosters haven't seen much of the Panthers' tryline for most of this game so far, but Sitili Tupouniua gets to a Walker grubber, seconds before before half time. SYD 06:14 PEN at HT
  3. Very fast and aggressive start from the Panthers, leading to a Turuva try, converted by Edwards.
  4. This match is free to stream on SL+ without a subscription. You have to create an account and sign in, but it's a taster for the uncommitted.
  5. I'm not sure either, but will be very interested to find out.
  6. Yep. looks like the + in Superleague+ was there for a reason.
  7. Veteran Aussie Rugby League journalist Ian Heads, aged 81. https://www.theguardian.com/sport/2024/mar/26/ian-heads-death-tribute-bio-nrl-illness-rugby-league-week One of just two writers inducted to the Rugby League Hall of Fame, Heads helped shape the way Rugby League was viewed for nearly half of the code’s existence in this country. The wordsmith’s historical books gave weight to the game’s past and he was honoured with an Order of Australia Medal.
  8. The Guardian's been pushing its foreign reach, especially in Australia which is why their NRL coverage is the best of the British newspapers. Politically, it is reviled noisily by the Right and Left, both of whom think they thought of it first.
  9. It was a very last-minute announcement and release on Google/Apple, then the Fire TV app only becoming available on the afternoon of the first match of the season. I think take-up may improve as people realise they can follow their own club's journey through the season, rather than the previous years of only being able to watch what Sky choose to air each round. Sky currently showing all matches live will also hold back uptake from their subscribers, as will whatever streaming service they introduce. We're actually a bit oversupplied at the moment, which is something we haven't had to get our heads round before. Some RL-only fans who currently have Sky Sports may do the maths in the next off-season and decide to join up, once they see the feedback about how well the platform works.
  10. It also shows they can put free live content on the platform as well as archive material. Useful to know.
  11. Recent reports say that the ship managed to contact the port authorities, who in turn managed to stop more vehicles getting on the bridge as soon as they could. So it could have been much worse, even at that time of night.
