  1. yep, think that myself sometimes...chuckle question to ask was the same people saying lets sack the coach at half-time when Leeds were clearly on top. or even at 12points up with 18mins left on the clock and they were attacking in the Hudd's last 20. Although I must admit at screaming for a drop goal on the last play at that point... not sure about the decision making... Anyway the lack of someone to take control of the group with some tactical field kicking to slow the game down when Leeds clearly had big defensive weakness on the right edge. Someone to put in kicks to the sideline for example...
  2. well yes, but my observations are that he does regular have brain farts. They normally follow a mistake that he makes, no problem that a mistake gets made though his immediate response seems to be a mental implosion. He rushes the next play he is involved in... The farcical drop out being an example, even worse that the rest of the team were not expecting a short drop out even if he didn't fluff it. In an earlier game he kicked out on the full immediate after his mistake led to a try... similar in another game were he rushed PTB after a mistake. me thinks he needs more resilience. Anyway I don't think he's a good full back anyway so I may be bias. Yep he catches high kicks no problem but he mostly flatters to deceive with his jiggling about and rarely joins the line in attack. At the moment Leeds need a solid defensive full back and organiser that also knows when to join the line and add the extra passing abilities rather than running in and out and somewhere about - disrupting the attack structure.
  3. Warrington deserved the win. Thought Saints made too many errors and some ill discipline at key moments for which Warrington made the most of. Thought two key decisions/errors didn't help Saints as they managed to gain momentum and look dangerous. One was taking the two points and all be it watching on TV I thought Warrington were going through a ragged lose of energy patch, the second being Lomax mistake again with Saints in the ascendancy. From their on in Wire took over and never looked like losing the ascendancy. To read some comments you would think the game wasn't in the balance and that Saints never had any ascendancy at all. For sure after 60mins Saints imploded whilst Warrington showed how dangerous they can be with their attacking prowess. The last 20 minutes certainly most unlike Saints in they lost all composure or nous, I guess Warringtons tackle pressure taking its toll.
  4. Dwyer will certainiy up the momentum when he comes on and especially as the opposition have lost some energy. Not seen Ipape much live so can't answer your question but having Dwyer off the bench will certainly be a positive. Oh and yep his defence is fine plus if you have off loaders he was always anticipating in position ready for such. I think he will provide good cover and if both fit he is a good signing. In my opinion Leeds could do with still having him as Ackers and his cover O'connor don't have that same spark to change momentum.. I'm guessing Ackers may have it but hasn't shown that additional element much yet...
  5. He played well at times at Leeds, not much different than when I saw him play at Leigh recently... He can be very spontaneous catching the opposition out, the only down side being that this also catches his team mates out too... his team mates have to be very switched on as in highly focused and agile to capitalise on his sudden explosive runs from...
  6. yep, this is his team as of this year with 7 games gone, a 4 to 3 record and just 2 points off the chasing pack to top of table. They beat Catalan, the only team to do so this season, ran Saints close and maybe could have won the first of the two games. They were poor against Warrington and Saints 2nd game and have had patches of brilliance and awfulness in the other games. They have been inconsistent this season for sure as one would have expected with new spine, so yep I would give more time.
  7. don't know... except to say both have been rubbished for their coaching as the result of team performances and selections plus lack of experience of being head coach at a moment in time. Nowadays no real similarities, given time McNamara has a proven track record as head coach and made a huge difference I think to Catalan. my comment was more on our immediate rush to judge as like McNamara Smith was almost immediately rubbished. Anyway I myself am not sure about Smith but recognise he needs more time plus not sure he has a leadership group within the current team... that would take time and his earlier judgement last year showed he didn't think he had one... I would suggest maybe they should have tried to bring someone in to the team that provided more clearly those attributes as Leeds to me have lost that winning, consistency muscle memory that helps provides the core leadership nohow...
  8. when i read various comments about coaches being rubbish or need replacing I often wonder how many of those fan experts are the the same that were rubbishing McNamara not many seasons ago.... mind you I think I remember early in the start of his career some questioning Matty Preet on here....
  9. reminiscing... yep was often the case... we used to have our street playing against the next street... game went on most of the day, all ages little and big uns, numbers playing varying depending on time of day but a lot of us... score would be around 46 to 21... then when yer mams all came out shouting tea ready, up went the call... next goal wins...
  10. Personally I always liked the last goal wins because yer Mam was dragging yer in for tea... it kept the focus until the end...
  11. I guess the ref had as "clear" a view as the other saints try ... got it wrong on both counts although I'm sure some think he grounded this one too... chuckle
  12. Oh no it didn't.... If that was the grand final or cc final it would be viewed as poor he didn't get it checked As it is it don't matter...
  13. I think results are as expected as well as being inconsistent at the moment, as again expected. Roberts has been good cover for injured Futsitu'a and I would expect him to not be first choice when no injuries, whilst McDonnell in my view has been a good signing. he played well last year - a typical solid SL player.. The spine isn't functioning as well as one would have expected but then again the problem is more the forwards. Leeds struggle to make yards and kicking from deep doesn't help Brodie and Ackers to shine. Frawley field kicking has been poor plus not strong enough boot, as a simple example to make most of penalties. He barely makes yards from those kicks. Mohorovici when he gets a decent run at centre rather than having to cover wing I think will be decent enough. Imho as said above if we have forwards that struggle non of the backs will shine but a decent strong field kicker would help get them out of a pickle. At least recognise when an early kick is needed plus maybe a more aggressive defence that may limit opposition yardage. Oh a better full back that joins the attacking line more frequently may also help Croft... they miss Myler despite Miller flatting to deceive.
  14. don't know about the game plan or approach... simply Leeds were dominated up front... Warrington forwards were just more powerful. stronger and out muscled Leeds equivalent... Leeds struggled to make yards and were kicking from deep. That has been a constant last couple of years. They don't have the same physicality of the top 4 clubs, which would seem to be a recruitment philosophy in the type of forwards they sign. Nowadays and taking Warringtons Curry as an example he is both a strong and powerful runner but also quite agile. Leeds seem to to have the agility in the forwards but are comparably lightweight hence not the equivalent power.
  15. One that amused me more was when x3 Warrington players lifted the Leeds winger off the ground and carried him a number of steps, into touch. and then dropped him... must admit I didn't think you could lift and carry a player.... it was quite amusing
