Keighley Cougars can this afternoon confirm that Ritchie and Darren Hawkyard have agreed new deals with the club.

Both joined from the Swinton Lions ahead of the 2016 season and both became influential figures in the side both on and off the field as they helped the Cougars to iPro Sport Cup glory in May as the side defeated the York City Knights in Blackpool.

Ritchie finished the season as top try-scorer as a double on the last day against the York City Knights saw him finish the year with 16 tries after impressing on the field from full-back with his barnstorming runs and line breaks and his eye for an offload with also saw him finish the season with the most assists.

Brother Darren scored 6 tries in his 20 appearances despite missing a month of action with a leg injury he sustained in June’s home victory over the Newcastle Thunder, forming a tough tackling and hard running second-row partnership with now departed John Oakes for the majority of the campaign.

The club will be looking to announce more re-signings and new signings throughout the course of the coming weeks.
