  1. You’re not wrong and they do need to bring in a few more players with quality. But an open question to all. With guaranteed relegation back to Championship wherever the team ended up on the league table, even if you got to the Grand Final, how would you spend your money on a squad with the knowledge that a team of newly signed SL (probably journeymen) players would move on in 9 months time. Or work on basis of a squad for next year and maybe some players might move on and become a SL regular with another team.
  2. Well IMG have stated if you run an academy it really doesn’t benefit you in their scoring system. So logical decision as a club and owner is spend your money elsewhere (and that might even be just save £250k a year for your own pension). Some have indicated emotional decisions. Yes and no. When RFL decided to penalise Broncos for not visiting Toulouse while others exempt from criticism. Broncos response was join the rest of crowd as part time rather than stay full time. Its a response to way rules are implemented and yes might be good cover for other financial reasons. The RFL do share responsibility for this. They’ve allowed IMG to ignore the wider development of the game in the grading system. It might not matter too much up north, it could be the death knell down here. It will/has ###### off the community clubs and volunteers. And the real irony is that the Broncos squad gaining promotion this year is based on a team that have come through London based academy and development.
  3. Very true. The owner has been a tad erratic. However switch to part time (in name only apparently) was due to RFL general approach to the club. However as usual the switch was badly managed with lots of wrong choices. The IMG scores pushing London down are the fault of the clubs own choices. Though crowd growth in the London market is impossible if the places aren’t household names. Crowds will only improve with big names coming in. Elsewhere commercially the club is poor. It markets to the already enlightened, beyond that not a great deal, but then without the big names its a circle you can’t get out of. Yet, while some parts of club are on life support, some lifeless, other parts see local (south of England) players been churned out on a regular basis. Northern SL teams even plucking them out before they make the senior team (Pierce-Paul and Silva) so there are some positives. And most RL clubs seem to have someone who played or came through systems in London. Maybe just a pity the bits London have done well don’t score and bits expected score poorly. Then there’s some weird expectations in the IMG criteria (area and conversion) but everyone is to some extent in the same boat. Not that the next season matters, as given IMG criteria its a waste of time but, the club needs to really show its intentions, yet so far its a slow burner.
  4. Well the RFL need to sort out next years structure. How many teams in League 1, will those teams be playing more than once a month? Though not sure those teams have huge resources for marketing, stadium development etc to make improvements. Or will RFL fiddle with the Championship as well? And does the rankings also work on basis of who is/isn’t in League 1 in 2025?
  5. As others may have pointed out the criteria have been out for months. Just some of placings seem completely wrong. Newcastle still placed at 18 despite withdrawing, North Wales bottom. How low were London before they won promotion if only 24 now? Population appears a strange criteria and for example London based on population of one borough so population (Merton) is only 230,000 within a city of 9.6million. Not that support comes from one area of the city or its surroundings. Suppose Cornwalls status comes from population of the county (586k). London’s nearest club is now Midlands, so suppose at least HS2 will be of some use.
  6. That’s about the sum total of it. Other clubs can pick up the southern players after that. Job done.
  7. We made four signings. Norman, Whare, Butler and Lovegrove. 3 players and one coach. Our defence has improved immeasurably and the attack is so much slicker. It has been a gradual on ongoing improvement. The change is mainly the coaching and playing experience. And the confidence is obvious
  8. Correct about Ebbsfleet station £3 and its a secure space (not that area is an issue). Very doable by public transport from London. Ebbsfleet trains are only from St Pancras (HS1 is quicker but more expensive). Traditional train lines out from London (Charing Cross/Waterloo East/London Bridge/Cannon Street) tend to stop at Dartford and need a change to Northfleet (not all of them). They take a bit longer (60 mins) from central London. Can probably use travelcard/oyster to Dartford but Nat Rail costs from there. Neither Ebbsfleet or Northfleet are far from the ground.
  9. Well 234 days since Broncos last won a match. And 277 days since the Coach led any team to a victory.
