Predictions - Bulldogs Vs Sheffield

Sheffield are now full time and will come into this game full of confidence after winning their first two games. They will also have had 2 extra days rest than we have as they played Halifax on Thursday. It really doesn't get any easier for us does it?

That being said with the home advantage and the team we have we are in with a chance and I predict a narrow home win.

Batley 22 - 18 Sheffield

Att: 900

£5 in the War Chest

I'll go with a 12 point loss.

It seems we're contractually obliged to lose to the seagulls.

Now prove me wrong, boys!

Can't see anything but another loss here.

Anything between 8 and 16 point difference.

But here's hoping.

"you never win a game unless you beat the guy in front of you. The score on the board doesn’t mean a thing. That’s for the fans. You’ve got to win the war with the man in front of you. You’ve got to get your man." - Vince Lombardi.

There ultimate bogey team - hoping Walker, Brambani & Davey will rise to the occasion with a point to prove to their former club.

Looking forward to it, if we can keep up the effort lebels of the last 2 weeks we have every chance of winning, but something tells me the Eagles will be the team to watch this year.

What we're dealing with here is a complete lack of respect for the law

Sheffield have started really well winning their first two games and they must be accustomed to coming to our place and going home with the points. But this is a very good Batley side and we are playing well while not conceding many points so again I go for a close contest it really is time to see off our bogey team. If we play with the commitment and desire of the first two games I go for a narrow bulldog victory 22-18.

As with the first two matches of the season I hope for an entertaining game. Fingers crossed as we haven't beaten Sheffield in a league match at home since they were promoted eons ago!

I think we have a chance this Sunday the guys will be disappointed with missing out at Fev and will look to maintain our home record. I think a shock win for the Bulldogs 28 - 10

Hope we can spring a surprise but With injuries rising at an alarming rate and a full time Eagles outfit with two days extra rest than our charges, it`s difficult to see anything than another defeat really.

Eagles by 8 for me, to be played out in front of another disappointing home attendance of 747.

A nasty niggly team who slow down the ptb and put in sneaky digs whenever possible (Sheffield, not Batley) but have pace and speed of thought will be a real test for the dogs; even more so than Leigh I reckon.

Eagles by 8.

Can't see it being a really low scoring game, Sheff have a lot of scoring power so we have to be on the ball both defending and taking chances. Keeping Yere out is a start. Play uphill first again, tackle them whilst we're fresher, and hope for some points of our own. I think Alex Brown will play this week so get him on the bump downhill as Sheffield will tire going uphill in what will probably be poor ground conditions. If our tackling stands up again I can see us pulling it off by 2 to 6 points.

l would hope your prediction is correct. As for the team.l would just put Cowling in the centre, and have Bretherton and Chandler in the back row. That would probably mean Brown and Craven missing out.

Sheffield's backs are phenomenal with ball in hand but not too good defensively:- Menzie doesn't like little nippy fellers running at him and Worrincey doesn't like being tackled by big second rowers or centres. Blackmore's only weakness at Fev last year was defending kicks. Put a few grubbers behind them at the bottom end and they'll struggle. If its a low scoring game on a boggy pitch I fancy Bulldogs on last week's showing. If its an open, free scoring game it will go to the Eagles.

I hope to get there on my way to Headingley, but there could be a lot of neutrals especially Fev fans (although they won't be neutral, they love the Bulldogs!)

Like Steve, hoping to get over - there may be a few from Fev today.

Really looking forward to it - would expect things to be very tight early doors, and, not much in it at the end. Steve is absolutely right about where the kicks need to go. I am sure that Kear will have had the lads practicing their grubber kicks this week.
