  1. Trying hard to find some positive in this, but I'm struggling. After all the positive feeling, optimism, hope and enjoyment after the world cup, I'm left with my head spinning and really not knowing which way to go. I won't be drawn into the "farce, shambles disgrace" debate just yet as I need time to work out what it all means and how its going to work in practice. The biggest disappointment to me is that will make us look like a sport that is constantly looking for novelty value when the reality is the base product is of such good quality it should sell itself. I've supported this game for over 30years and enjoyed (almost) every minute of it. I get the feeling most of us would share that feeling. So why do we need to endlessly tinker with structures / formats / rules etc. What's needed is stability. So, if this is the structure we're going to have, please just let's not do anything, at all with it for a considerable length of time. If ever.
  2. But on a more serious note I do despair with my club at times. Loads of hype. This is our year. #be13eve. etc etc. And then when things get tricky, or we don't perform as we "should" on paper its like a re-enactment of the night of the long knives. John Kear - won the challenge cup for us in 2005. Sacked in 2006. Peter Sharp - 9 game winning streak & grand final place in 2007. Sacked in 2008. Peter Gentle - twice into second round of play-offs & wembley final this year. Sacked this year. Dear god the only coach that got given any "time to prove himself" was Agar. And what a happy, success-filled, attack-minded, steel-defenced four years that turned out to be. Oh and I could add, Sigsworth, Cleal & Simmons to that list. We look like a carbon copy of Warrington in the pre-Moran / Smith years. Constantly look good. Constantly come up short. I can only hope that this is just another one of those "hiccups" before we genuinely hit the big time again.
  3. I have a strange feeling I was also there. Don't remember the game much, but I recall a stray dog turning its nose up at the "soup" I'd just refused to drink. Think I may have had a lucky escape there.
  4. I felt exactly the same when I heard the kick off time. Hope I'm wrong because both sets of supporters have the capacity to generate a massive amount of noise and a fantastic atmosphere for a great game.
  5. While I find the choice of venues and kick off times very disappointing, we really shouldn't be surprised. A quick glance through my collection of Rothmans shows that there's been plenty of times this has happened: 1986 Hull KR v Leeds (plus replay) CC semi - played at Elland Road 1989 Leeds v Cas Yorks Cup Final- played at Elland Road 1984 Saints v Wigan Lancs Cup Final - played at Wigan 1982 Wigan v Leeds John Player Final - played at Elland Road I guess it shows that even after the SuperLeague revolution, the concept of "neutral" is pretty arbitrary at the RFL. Feel sorry for London having to travel to Leigh and equally quite miffed that my lot don't kick off till 6 on the Sunday. Main concern with the latter is that it potentially inviting some people to get absolutely hammered before the game.
