  1. Laugh all you like at me #### I couldn't give a shiny ####. You seen what's going on in Palestine and Ukraine etc. Just a pastime to me mate. I want the lads to win but chip paper to me when it's done. I was trying to give my lad perspective last night but he's only 11.
  2. TBF Headingley, Cas, Saints, Wigan were good away days, even Humbersard on the odd occasion we came away from there with points and our kneecaps where God intended them* no disrespect to Batley whom I admire as a club but I'd rather , for one season at least liked to have sampled those again.
  3. OK then you didn't, but you dug someone out as a part time supporter because he (I pressume it was a he) has stated that they will choose their games. I have to choose when I can go now, because I can only afford to go to 2 per month and have only been to 2 away games this year. I went last night but would have struggled to afforded the final, but last night happened to be the night I had my lad for the weekend, so I CHOOSE to go that one. In hindsight my choice was correct. Still that's me a part-timer.
  4. Bully for you. I don't, I can't afford to being a single dad on a part time wage, I'm still as passionate about the team as I've always been. But of course you're a better supporter than both the gentleman and I because you go to all the games.
  5. Players have little incentive, many cases to BE promoted. They are on good money at a good club, promotion would end many of their assosciaton with the club. Turkeys voting for xmas.
  6. The positives. 1) £25 saved next week. 2) Not getting hammered every week. 3) Won't have to visit Wheldale. Just as an aside 'Stevo' was at the match last night. I said to him 'I bet you're chuffed to bits'.
  7. My mate Stuart Matthews played in that Donny team, there's one bit where he's tackling Danny Wilson (Ryan Giggs', dad) It was filmed in 1979. Rovers play them with Dave Vickers tearing up the middle. In 1979 £8 bought you 11 boxes of cigarettes which would equate to £130 quid now. Stuart quite categorically has told me on many occasions that the players dreaded it rather than enjoyed it. The season after Donny had about 40 players 10 of them being SO Else, AN Other or TR Ialist.
  8. I for one didn't think we'd beat London. I said to Martin Vickers on the way in 'Let's hope you're scanning a ticket next week' 'Of course we will be' was his reply. I am the world's greatest pessimist (although Robin will, as I'm sure he'll admit run me to a close 2nd) but you just get a feeling all sometimes. I've been urging people not to say 'we will put 30 on them' or 'at least we'll have home advantage in the final'. A little over a month ago on the forum our fans were gloating over the fate of Cas. Nothing is decided in August! All bragging does is create a facial omelette. We never learn from past experiences, some as little as 12 months ago.... The game was almost a facsimile of last year v Batley. 2nd best for 60 mins then throwing the ball about, but it being too little to late. I personally have seen Rovers win the league and the cup, it's the younger generation that I feel for, my 11 year old boy, and I daresay many others were beyond disappointed that they won't be seeing their team at the top table. I'm a bit more pragmatic (pessimistic) in that watching any sort of Featherstone Rovers after April 1995 was a bonus. That said .... Last night the best team won and the scoreline almost flattered us in the end. Their tries were soft to say the least, Alex Walker, a player that we outed a couple of years ago scored two very simple tries past our left centre position with hardly a hand laid on him. Their second try could so easily have been kicked dead. Our attacked lack punch, half backs didn't create, and what was evident was the fact that we didn't break a tackle until the hour mark. Have we got anyone that can go the length of the field? Their outside backs especially Grant and Macani were rapid. Time and time again this season, and last we've conceded by our wingers being outpaced, most notably by Halifax, several times. I cannot for the life of me see why Connor Jones got so little game time, Craig Hall, Craig Kopsczak and Dane Chisholm weren't in the 17. Aekins has been a great servant this season but not as a stand off. The biggest disappointment for me was the realisation of what this game stood for. I honestly don't know the direction the club will go in now. The Chairman must be sick to the back teeth of sinking money in to the club. The stadium is amazing when you look at the dumps in the five towns, The CEO was stating recently that there is no other team as well equipped as Featherstone to go to the super league, we've even got Moretti in the bar now instead of the usual pish, but I fear that this was our last chance of SL football and that the light has finally gone out.
  9. Does that law apply in RL, I thought it was only football? I remember a couple of years ago St. Helens played their academy side at Castleford on a televised Friday evening game, I don't recall any cone back on them.
