Most would have wanted the 3 game format continued, but after 2 years of whitewashes, I'm glad we have two, and we have a full weekend of coverage. Great to be able to announce before the 4 Nations as well.

A 4 Nations win and maybe a win for one of our clubs, and hopefully dented Aussie pride will mean there are 3 again next year.

I would have thought it should have been Warrington who blew it with no major cup ?

Good point but as a mate of mine said a while back, no matter what happens, the RFL will do us out of a WCC game.

Paranoia?, maybe, but I'm not too fussed anyway.

Best wishes to Wire and the Pies.

With Halloween coming up I decided to go to my local fancy dress shop to see if I could get a Dracula costume. After a few minutes the assistant handed me a Hull KR shirt asking "Is this suitable?", I replied "I think you may have misheard me, I said I wanted to look like a count."

They could always play Rovers. Not keen on it myself, have put too much into Hull coffers after years of some Hull fans boycotting "Craven Park".

Don't fancy that myself either mate.

We played Featherstone away the other year as part of Richard Whiting's testimonial and they stuffed us.

Hope we stuff the sharks even more than most teams due to cheating grubs like Gallen.

I do think a 2 match series makes more sense than the 3.

What really needs to happen though is the match to take place after the respective grand finals for it to have full meaning as being a clash of champions.

why does 2 matches make more sense than 3? Makes less sense to me.

No other Champions League type cup happens at the end of the year.

Good on Broncos for stepping up to the mark.

That will be another marvellous occasion - good luck to the Wire.

Am really looking forward to seeing the Sharks play. I hope we give it our very best and show that our 4 Nations win was a sign of things to come... insofar as we and Wire have any potential England World Cup players I hope they all play and measure themselves against what'snin store for them in the future...

What other major sports put showpiece games on at 8pm on a Saturday evening in the UK?

Any?

Those that are owned and dictated to by Sky Sports?

"Rugby League is rugby in the simplest form in the sense that it's about great defence, great tackling technique, good handling, good passing, catching and great kicking."

nonsense. We are playing 4n games on Friday for Premier and Saturday night for bbc.

Fair enough Dave, I'd not thought it through properly.

Historically, World Club Challenge/Series matches have been held on Friday or Saturday nights. Maybe the RFL consider a late kick off the best time to maximise attendance and revenue?

Frisay, Sat and Sunday the last couple of years.

When one game often a Sunday evening.

8pm on a Saturday night is not a regular kick off time for UK sport.

Saturday at 8pm and Sunday at 3pm for TV games?

What's wrong with Sunday afternoon? Wigan can't host it on Friday or Saturday... Not at home anyway...

Frankly, I don't understand what the issue is with Saturday 8pm either...

Filling the City of Manchester on a Saturday for WCC would have been a positive challenge I wish Wigan and RFL would have taken.

what sports arrange their events for 8pm on a Saturday.

Why do we think nobody arranges them for that time (apart from the likes of Boxing)?

Fairly sure champions league football final is now a Saturday evening kick-off most likely 7.45 so in the same ballpark.

2 teams series as the grand finalists of each comp is a much neater concept and easier well to the general public as the 1st game of the series felt like a glorified friendly currently. It is a shame that the Aussie sides won't commit to it fully as seen by Melbourne Storm sidestepping it this time around.
