I would imagine that Doncaster Knights get a bit of support from further afield as they are the highest placed Yorkshire team in the RFU structures. No Yorkshire team is in the Premiershship or National League 1, so the next highest placed sides are in National League 2 North, the fourth tier of English rugby union.

Jack Johnson, who is from Audenshaw, has signed for Oldham. AUDENSHAW’S very own rugby league star Jack Johnson is coming ‘home’ after signing for Oldham RLFC.

Question - the Northern Union
Usera replied to Coastal_Geordie's topic in The General Rugby League Forum
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/County_Championship_(rugby_league) Durham and Northumberland did compete in the County Championship for a couple of seasons from 1902-1904. Out of interest, Cheshire still had a side then as well. -
Yes, I live in Spain. It must be blocked like the BBC iPlayer is outside the UK.

A few weeks back it was announced that 4 Dragons Catalans were to be on TV3. However, on the day (25 March) the Leeds game was not shown. However, the full game is available on the TV3 online site . It has Catalan commentary, as expected: https://www.ccma.cat/tv3/alacarta/transmissions-esportives/rugbi-league-leeds-rhinos-dragons-catalans/video/6211196/ I am not sure if the Warrington game will be live, but is should be available at some stage.

I think that a few schools played RL in Stockport in the early eighties as well.

From memory, Bill Goodwin was the original Kent Invicta coach. They signed winger Frank Feighan from Peckham who had played in a trial for Fulham, and I think he won the Grandstand try of the season for Kent Invicta in 82-83 against Castleford in the cup. He ended up at Fulham via Southend Invicta. Another Peckham player went to Fulham, Martin Herdman, who also played for Wales. I think Peckham had some sort of split into Peckham Pumas and South London, who played in the North West counties amateur league Division One for a season.

The potential of RL in York and North Yorkshire
Usera replied to The Daddy's topic in The General Rugby League Forum
When York won the Second Division in 1981, the average attendance was around 3,900. Their biggest crowd was against Fulham (7,300). Curiously, they were the third best supported team in the League that year with Fulham and relegated Wigan getting bigger crowds. They played Hull KR away in the cup second round with nearly 14,000 at Craven Park. Second Division 1980/81 York -
It is surprising how the game managed to recede, there were more sides then than now.

Do we deserve to be in the National Papers?
Usera replied to Mumby Magic's topic in The General Rugby League Forum
It is interesting to note that Sale hardly has any competition in the North-West. They are the only club in the top tier of RU. The next clubs are two leagues down in national league one, Macclesfield and Sedgley Park whose attendances hardly set the world on fire (the recent match between the two had an attendance of 397) You do get the impression that RU is declining somewhat in the North and the ambitious up and coming clubs are from the South. -
A whole different ball game
Usera replied to bestgameofall's topic in The General Rugby League Forum
I actually think that Phil Larder's column is far better written and more interesting than most articles on tactics/analysis. Certainly for a more general audience, ie. people without an incredibly deep knowledge of the game ,they are pretty good. -
As Touch seems to be taking off, its links to rugby league are not often mentioned. The international touch website does not mention the origins of the game. The Catalan rugbipensador website has a couple of articles on Touch, with a link to the Rugby Union International Board

Which R.L club has biggest crowds per capita ?
Usera replied to 3owls's topic in The General Rugby League Forum
That's true, but whilst the top tier Super League crowds have more or less doubled, the crowds lower down the ladder seem to be worse. I know that was a record year for second division crowds (Fulham's first year, Wigan having been relegated), but still only three clubs were averaging less than a thousand. Attendances at the smaller clubs really nose-dived just after that and never seemed to recover. The difference in average attendance between the divisions is much higher these days.
