The season ahead

class of 63

Before I start I am aware this is dangerous territory but here goes........

No negative vibes in this assessment of the season we face - hopefully just realism with a touch of optimism.

We have 23 games to play - so thats all teams home and away plus Oldham in the Summer Bash.

I think everyone will agree there will be no easy games, home or away, and we could be on the receiving end of some heavy defeats especially considering the number of full times teams in this league.

But not liking to use the word 'survival' if we are to stay up we probably need to be looking at 14pts based on last seasons Championship table (Whitehaven survived with 14 and Hunslet relegated with 10).

So where are these 7 wins going to come from ??? but not wishing to upset any of our opponents.

Possible home wins :

Oldham

Whitehaven

Workington

Batley

Dewsbury

Possible away wins:

Oldham

Whitehaven

Workington

plus throw in a shock to two and we could be okay

I am sure others will have varying opinions but something to get us talking.

JD was very upbeat after the game today. Lots of positives from a team that had not played together before. Must have been very hard to select the team but I think it was just about spot on. Probably need changes next week for Dwyer and Littler who both picked up injuries but there is a lot of talent that has not yet had a game so I too think we will be ok and roll on London and their 4G pitch next week.

Just thought I'd go back to my opening post (made before the season started)after yesterday's match and all the comments being made on Facebook.

No doubt in my opinion all the comments made were constructive and where critical again imo justified, on what I think we all have to agree was a very poor performance but I'm sure we all agree on what I said in my opening post on there being no easy games this season and as has been said elsewhere we came up as probable relegation favourites and in my assessment of the wins we might need to stay up we are already 2 down (Dewsbury and Whitehaven) but that doesn't mean the fight is over and all we can do is back the team and hope.

I think it's true to say that if we compete each week and don't get the wins we as true fans can accept.that and continue to back the lads - unfortunately we didn't seem to compete yesterday.
