Match Thread. Featherstone Rovers v Halifax Sunday 29th May 2016

Recommended Posts

Huge match this one.

Apart from all the fanafre surrounding the summer bash weekend which seems to be growing in popularity with the fans, this is a vital fixture for our Top 4 ambitions.

Not heard any team news yet. Maybe Craven will be a doubt.

Robbie ward, Tagg & Cooper all knocking on the door for a spot in the 17.

Must win game for us for our top 4 hopes. Hopefully we can raise our game because if we dont we will get hammered. The only silver lining about this game I see at the moment is that we do pretty well against Fev in big games at neutral venues. I just think Fev will want it more after the last game against us and we are not in the sort of form to do anything about it.

On a side note if we lose this I will pay out my bet against monkeymagic.

As Fev coach, Jon Sharpe has a 100% record in one-off matches: Championship Shield Final last year being the only one so far. On that basis we should be optimistic seeing as we hammered Broncos that day.

NOT REALLY A ONE OFF BUT 2 POINTS AVAILABLE IN BLACKPOOL

IF WE PLAY LIKE RECENTLY ANYWHERE HOME AWAY OR BLACKPOOL

WE WIN SIMPLES

am sure thats the attitude sharpe will be trying to drill into the players for this game, but in reality its a neutral ground infront of a cup final like atmosphere, i would also agree if we can play like we have the last few week am pretty confident in taking the 2 points. Forgot about the shield win should be a cracker.

Blackpool is going to look great with all the Fev fans and their summer bash shirts.

it's not the shirt, it's what's inside it.

look even better when fax fans turn up on there skateboard ;-).

Fax arent going to turn up on Skateboards - even a proper fax hater knows they will be well supported

Though following the release of major shareholder Mr Abbots reckless spending habits and subsequent debt to the media perhaps they shouldnt be so quick to take the mick - they never know when they might need us if the begging buckets come out

I'm quietly confident of a Fev victory but I wouldn't go so far as to say I expect them to win. I said that before the 2010 GF, the NR Cup tie the following season, and the NR Cup Final at Blackpool. In each case I couldn't see how Fev could lose as they seemed unbeatable. But they did lose!

I feel this side has far more character than Daryl's teams though, his approach was to let the opposition worry about them and he sometimes came unstuck when the other side raised their game. Jon Sharp's side is much more used to tight games and knows how to dig deep when the going gets tough.

We beat you away in the league we will beat you at Blackpool

Fax have not been on form this season but still have a better team than fev.

If we click then we will smash you if we don't  we will match and sneak the win by a gaz moor drop goal

Up the fax

Now there's confidence for you, let's just hope your team can match your prediction up.

Having played both you & Halifax over the last few weeks I think you'll have the edge tbh,fev by 10.

Anyway........

I thought Sheffield were sh*te today. Given the fighting spirit that some of the other teams in the lower half of the table have shown recently, relegation must be a real but unthinkable possibility for them. I just can't see which games are winnable for them at the minute. I wonder if that funding would still be forthcoming in the 3rd tier ??

London weren't much better though - I wish we could play them every week yet they still keep on picking up points. I'm sure a bad run of luck and form is due to them and they may yet regret their smug top2 predictions.

Think London have 2nd sewn up - their run in is probably the "easiest" out of anyone in the top 4 - only Leigh H looks a probable defeat anything else would be a suprise

With everyone else probably dropping points too cant see them squandering the current 6 point lead they have built up

Thought it was a good day today - 1st game was average but that was down to a poor Sheffield team against a London team who didnt get out of 2nd gear and therefore wernt clinical enough

The cumbrian derby was a great follow up game and Leigh/Bradford really topped it off in what was a great advert for Championship rugby

Hope we and the other 5 clubs can make the 2nd day as good, if not better

3 massive games today all 3 games will be bruising encounters, the leigh bradford game will take some beating, but think our game has the potential to match it, if we can repeat the form of the last few week and fax play to there potential could be a cracker, hope its not as tight as yesterdays game though, dont think my nerves could handle it.
