So how will this work?

If UK based teams are to fly out on Thursday, how will this sit with a part-time players employer? Will the individual have to take unpaid leave (in the case of those with statutory holiday) or book holiday time off work?

I would expect Toulouse to make it into our division next season and possibly the Canadian team in 2018, where next a Serbian, Lebanese or Russian team?

Tell you what. Just for a change in RL let's give something the chance to succeed (or fail) without shooting it down in flames as soon as we see it?

I agree that it seems somewhat off the wall but needed the agreement of the clubs before it could be ratified so let's see how it goes.

You now have two years to save up for the fare on the Battle Bus in 2018.

Toronto is an amazing city, it'll almost be as good as going to Featherstone.

It's a bonkers idea, completely laughable.

why is it laughable as they are self sustaining and no pound notes coming from RFL ,as others have said its off  the wall and can't see how its going to work but they are funding this by them selves including expenses for away team to go over there and who knows could open up a big market in the US and Canada to make the game more global and since its not going to cost the RFL nothing got to be worth a go

I personally think its one crazy bonkers idea dreamed up fatboy just so the red hall crew have somewhere different to have a bevy on a weekend, but on the other hand the game is dying on its ###### so if it is feesable then give it a shot

Says in RL press that clubs voted unanimously; why on earth? How can this be of any benefit to Batley, Dewsbury, Oxford, Hemel etc? Absolutely stupid.

Perhaps the leaders of those clubs have the foresight to see it of being of possible benefit to the game as a whole, and therefore as having indirect benefit to their clubs.

Try looking at it the other way, Phil.

How can it adversely affect Batley, Dewsbury, Oxford, Hemel, etc?

The only down side I can see is players having to take an extra day's holiday from work. To Toronto - so there must be some compensation to the players!

The Canadians are paying for opposition travel.

It must be costing them a packet - but it's out of their wallets, not ours.

Is this the same lot who thought SL was a good idea?

Why worry RPH it would be at least 18 months before you have to worry about any travel and costs worries.

I'd fancy it though.

Cheers Roger.

Well body image issues can be pointed at many people but I fail to see how it is relevant in this case or any others. All of the write-ups about the project, which is the only information that I have not being privy to inside information, say that the initiative is entirely that of the Toronto team and it's backers, not of the RFL.

Will they also be paying the costs of housing and feeding a squad of players, coaching and ancillary staff for two or three nights ? Not cheap in Canada.

Just asking.

The clubs voted in favour but no doubt failed to ask these questions themselves. Silly them!

Come on BSJ - you are doing them an injustice. They will have looked at the fine detail, and weighed up the advantages of the globalisation of RFL to the championship clubs against the minor inconvenience of any short term financial problems that may be caused - as they presumably did with Toulouse. In fact, I'm only amazed that the Superleague clubs haven't insisted on taking it on board in the way they embraced the Catalans, it seems such a wonderful opportunity.

Well there will be at least four Canadians in the squad but why should this matter?

if I was a rugby player involved , i would want this , a free holiday , who would not ?, and the players will have enough time to book time off work when the fixture list comes out.

thinking of this as a potential holiday for me next year , and i would have to pay my own fare , accommodation etc.

As said earlier costs clubs and rugby league nothing , and we are expanding the game , winner all round then.
